Picked this up today and the battery included in tthe kit is not the new Flexvolt 6.0ah as pictured. It is the first generation Flexvolt.

No justice here. Was not expecting the 1st gen flexvolt battery since the pics do not show that batt. Not that it is that bad but already have some and was hoping to see how a new gen would be compared to old gen. Darn faulty pictures.

The flexvolt battery is absolutely the best way to go. You get more power and runtime out of your tools.

As a Dewalt tool owner I was excited to try out this new line of tools that operate on 20v and 60v batteries. I own a 20v recip saw as well as a flexvolt recip saw. This new saw is the best of both worlds. It’s essentially a flexvolt tool that gives you the option to run a 20v battery at a reduced power. I decided to put all three saws up against each other. I first used a 5ah 20v battery in the advantage saw and the traditional 20v saw and compared cutting speed through a 2×4 using identical blades. The advantage saw cut through in half the time over 3 tries. I then used a 9ah flexvolt battery in the advantage saw and the flexvolt saw and had identical times. I then compared the advantage saw with the 5ah battery vs the 9ah flexvolt saw and found it only about 1 second slower. I was extremely impressed with the performance of the new advantage saw both using the 20v and 60v batteries. It will be my new go to saw due to its battery versatility and amazing performance. I highly recommend you try this saw out.

The DeWalt 20-volt Max Lithium Ion Cordless, Brushless Reciprocating saw is a perfectly capable tool.I got it because my employer predominantly provides DeWalt cordless tools and I didn’t want the hassle of keeping up with multiple types of batteries. Being able to use DeWalt’s entire line of lithium ion batteries ensures I will always be able to use this saw when I need it.As far as its performance I have no complaints. It’s a saw and it does what it is designed to do. Attaching and removing blades is quick and easy and they can be installed teeth up or down, whichever is needed. The blade lock is large and easy to operate while wearing gloves. The saw is large so know that you will have difficulty in tight places. Also note it’s heavy. This is probably an indication of good, solid build quality but you’re going to hate it if you have to use it over head or for extended periods of time. There are lighter weight, less robust, alternatives for tight spots and overhead use.I was looking forward to using the bluetooth capability to keep track of the tool and defend against sticky fingers so I was disappointed to learn that it is only compatible with the technology. A separate add-on is required to use this feature and was the biggest negative I found about this saw considering a major competitor offers the same feature already built into the tool.

When it says Dewalt on the package, I know it’s a Quality product. My cordless Dewalt drill is 15 years old and still going strong, so when I wanted a cordless Reciprocating saw, I knew this was the one. It has a variable speed trigger which can be locked on when needed, and the best feature is the lever you pull up, slip a blade in, and push the lever down to lock in place. (This model does not come with a battery or charger, so if you don’t already have them, maybe buying a kit that includes them would be more cost efficient.)

Cuts better than a corded one. Beats any recip saw I’ve ever used.

Powerful, steady, hard working, but heavy. I. Traded this unit in for a compact unit that I could use with one hand. Again, nothing against this unit; I just needed a lighter weight one.
