I love this saw. It is well made, powerful and the blade retaining system works well …can run a blade vertically or horizontally and it’s a firm, well designed retainer – fast and very easy to change blades (uses standard blades). I’ve only used it on wood – firewood with an great aggressive Diablo blade, and for some random carpentry. I expect it as good on metal etc with appropriate blades. I’ve an old Sawzall that I loved until now. This is lighter, more functional, blade change way easier, and gives the freedom of not having to use an electrical receptacle to use (aside fro charging of course) . I use two 2 Amp batteries that I found on sale. I’d only use the old Sawzall if I had a full day of cutting metal etc. So far, this is great. I’m a retired Industrial Designer that appreciates the effort that went into designing this. Thanks!

It is lighter, smaller and without a cord more convenient than my previous corded DeWalt reciprocating saw. As other reviewers have noted it seems to kick back more, but that may be because it is lighter and somewhat more maneuverable. It also requires a little more care to get the blade guard against the work product to keep it from kicking. Selecting a heavier saw for more frequent and longer periods of time than occasional home use a might be a more important consideration.

The product performed as expected and I was able to use the 5Ah battery in my DeWalt Circular Saw, which didn’t come with a battery.
