I have had my DCS 496B for about six months and have to say it’s great. I am a contractor and work with steel mills and processors all the time so having a tool that cuts most metals of varying gauges is a must. When I’m cropping back light gauge cold rolled steel, aluminum, tin, or stainless I give my shear a real workout. Recently I was working on a job removing damaged wraps from tin coils (bound for a can producer in Chicago) I made over 500 cuts (41 inches on 0.33 mm plastic wrapped tinplate) in one day on one 5ah battery. I have lent my shear to several other guys going to do the same type of work and they’ve fallen in love with it. If you work with sheet metal on a regular basis and have already invested into the 20V max Dewalt system of tools you owe it to yourself to get one of these shears. I purchased mine used at a pawn shop (used with one battery and a charger) and have no hesitation in buying a new one if this one dies. I do have a few notes on future improvements but they are minor and come from making 3000 cuts in a week.
