I am a custom kitchen and cabinet builder and installer. For many years I have dreamed of purchasing a track saw but I could never justify the cost. You know the OTHER company never cut there price and I just couldn’t do it. Then the sky opened and the clouds allowed the sun to shine down on Dewalts new track saw and I had to have it. Once I got off my knees I bought it. I have been a classic Dewalt follower for many many years. You could say I bleed yellow. Tell me that didn’t confuse the paramedics. I have purchased drills, saws, compressors, chop saws, clamps and the list goes on and on, that is what makes this so difficult. I have owned two track saws. The first was a corded version I purchased soon after it came on the market. I used it for sheet goods and trimming cabinet sides in hard woods and many more applications. I loved it. Found a second saw and purchased it for a friend and he feels the same way. It truly improved my business. Recently I purchased Dewalts 60volt max 6 1/2 cordless track saw. I was so excited when the big box arrived. Once again a ray of sunlight spot lighted my new saw. Then it began to rain. I’m hoping this was just the one tool that slipped through the quality control section of the plant. I have read many reviews of this tool and listen to other woodworkers rave about its quality and cut. Yes it is very well build and all the systems work perfectly. I did find it took a while to zero the table to 90 degrees and the batteries makes it a little out of balance but I could live with that. It is the cut. I am very disappointed in the cut. I am using this saw in exactly the same applications as my first but receiving no were near the same result. The saw seams to surge and not run smoothly. regardless of a fresh battery or not. The cut is rough and often leaves a burnt cut. both at 90 degrees or at a bevel. Perhaps it is the blade from the factory so I changed it to a new one purchased at the same time. Same result, rough and burnt cuts in most materials. I like the cordless option but this tool just doesn’t cut it for me. I have tried a cordless competitors version and I’m afraid I may have to go to the dark side. I could just be a faulty unit but its far to expensive to buy it again and find out. You know the definition of insanity.

Flexvolt is awesome and the track saw is no exception. I had another track saw and the cord was always in the way. Great tool.

Tons of power and precision. I’ve never owned a track saw before and getting a cordless one seemed like a risk. The 60V power system on the DeWalt tools is exceptional: lots of options for voltage and capacity. I had no problems using the saw to cut through several 2” thick walnut boards.

The saw feels as powerful as a corded saw. I’ve done around 280 linear feet of cutting in ⅝” plywood on one charge and the battery charges relatively fast. I’m able to use it all day on jobs with a single charge. The stock blade is very good and after cutting about 800 linear feet, a cleaning with acetone made it like new. The carbide seems to be holding up really well and I doubt I’ll need to have it sharpened any time soon with regular cleanings. Having a double sided track is a very nice feature for quickly lining up cuts. I’ve been cutting on an insulating foam board and using my cordless DeWalt vac with decent success for dust collection. It leaves some chips but not a lot and does well at removing the finer particles. The vac hose on my DeWalt cordless vac doesn’t fit this saw or my DeWalt cordless miter saw which have the same size dust port. An adapter or some 1mm thick O-rings work well enough along with an extension hose. The miter saw dust bag also collects pretty well on this track saw but is best for outdoor use and just keeping the working surface somewhat clean. I’ve used some other brands of track saws and prefer the plunge action of this saw as I feel like plunges the blade into the surface in a way that is less likely to cause any kickback. I like that the slide adjustment sets can be locked to a setting with with a hex tool or with a slot blade screwdriver. I like that there’s a riving knife feature on this tool along with the antikickback feature and the handles are really well executed ergonomically. The blade brake seems really fast and the blade change is easy after doing it once. The depth set adjustments are easy to work with, as accurate as they need to be and the scale accounts for the track. I frequently work with metric measurements so I wish the depth scale had a metric option but that’s not a big problem. I do wish there were a positive stop on the bevel adjustment at 45 degrees but that’s easy enough to get perfect with the saw in blade change position and a framing square. I would buy this again.

I debated a long time about which tracksaw to purchase. I settled on this Dewalt Cordless Tracksaw Kit because I have a lot of Dewalt cordless tools. When I received it, I charged it up and put it to use. I was totally shocked by the power and longevity of this battery powered tool. It is perfect for my hobby business!

I don’t really have the space for the table saw I’d like to have so i started doing research into track saws. I watched countless videos and read many articles. From everything i found the dewalt track was the right fit. I did some shopping around and found i could get the most bang for my buck with the kit for the cordless saw and i wanted the ability to take it anywhere and not worry about power. The fact that it comes with a flexvolt is awesome because it ties in with my other dewalt tools and gives an extra battery when needed. I have built a few cabinets with the track saw now and i love it. The learning period for getting everything fine tuned was very short. Once i tried a few things out (and bought more strips for more track after testing) it sunk in and i was getting square, accurate cuts just as if i had a table saw. For my hands i find it well balanced with the battery on it and the grip is very comfortable. From my research i heard the plunge would take some getting used to because it was a little different from others but I enjoy it and didnt find it weird at all. In fact i find it quite comfortable and easy to use. The plunge feels sturdy and well built and i havent noticed any variance in the squareness in my cut unlike a normal circular saw where it can give a little from time to time and create a bevel of sorts. I have yet to experience that with this saw. I havent cut thicker material, mostly just 1″ and under but it has handled everything like a champ. The depth adjustment is spot on and easy to use and i love having the riving knife built in. The saw feels very safe to use which was another selling point for me. So far the only thing i would have to complain about is having to reset my saw when i switch between the 52″ and 102″ track. I have to do completely opposite adjustments when i switch. It’s easy enough to do but can be a nuisance when I’m switching for a shorter cut and then breaking down more sheets immediately. Including a wrench for the track adjustments would be nice too as i am having trouble finding the right size among my tools and have to resort to a flat head screw driver. The blade wrench in the handle was an awesome idea by the way, very convenient storage and i dont have to worry about losing it. I would highly recommend getting clamps for the track as it helps keep everything square and accurate. My only other comment would be that i wish it came with some sort of dust collection bag. When you’re on the go and don’t have a shop vac or something with you to hook up to the saw it can get messy real quick but the saw does a great job of controlling the flow of man glitter to the port. I am a huge fan of the saw and look forward to building many more projects with it.

I was skeptical. I went ahead and upgraded my whole platform to 60v. I do finish carpentry in five million plus houses. Three weeks in I’m very impressed how all these tools perform. Depending on the task I’m getting half a day to full day of battery life.

Many people, when they hear track saw, don’t think of a tool used in framing. Many people think of a track saw as being a fine woodworking tool. I would argue it not only works in finish carpentry and cabinetry but also works in rough carpentry as well. The depth adjust knob is about the only weak point of the saw otherwise it is built like a tank. If it is built like a tank can it withstand being used by a framer? Of course it can and then some. It might even speed up cutting sheathing because you don’t need to chalk a line and then follow said line. All you gotta do is set the rail on your marks and just let the saw do the rest.

Super easy to use. Just plug in a battery and put down on a track. Very power full. Smooth motion to lower the blade and adjust cut depth.

This cuts just as cleanly and accurately as my four other track saws, but has several features that make it worth consideration. For one thing, it is less expensive than my premium teutonic tools. Moreover, the tracks and accessories are less expensive. And the DeWalt trigger-style track clamps are far easier to use than other brand’s clamps with the twist style screws. So, for convenience alone, that’s a clear win for DeWalt.Of course, this is a cordless tool, which depending on your needs may be an advantage or not. If you work solely in a shop, then you might not need the cordless feature. Since I often do volunteer work on site, cordless tools are a boon to efficiency. They not only get the job done faster, because I save set-up and tear-down time, but I work safer with no cords to trip over. One unique feature of the DeWalt tracks saws is the two-sided chip-strip. All other track saws have only ONE side with the zero-clearance strip that prevents chip-out. ONLY DeWalt designed theirs to have BOTH sides of the track with those rubber strips. If one gets damaged, you can just turn the track around and keep working. That happened to me this summer when an apprentice used the rail as a cutting guide and sliced the rubber strip with a utility knife. For any other saw, I would have had to spend time replacing the strip before work could continue. The other unique feature I have seen only on DeWalt saws is, the anti-kickback button. It does more than prevent kickback, which is plenty useful when cutting wet or green wood. It can actually hold the saw on the vertical sloped track. That’s especially useful when using the saw on sloping roofs for valley and rafter cuts. But I have found another great use for that!I engage the anti-kickback whenever I use this for my homemade panel saw! That allows forward movement for cutting, but prevents the saw slipping down the (nearly) vertical track.I like the case too, but found you must be careful when placing everything back inside. The saw is fitted to the case so closely, you must be sure to get it ALL the way into the molded foam pads on the bottom. Otherwise, the lid won’t close. As stated, I have four other tracks saws by the other big brands. ALL of those use thin plastic inserts in their cases. DeWalt uses thick molded foam that actually conforms to the tool, the battery and charger very securely. I think that is BETTER than the expensive teutonic tools’ systainer style cases. So, if you are considering a track saw, remember to give this one serious thought. It costs less. The accessories cost less but are just as good; and in the case of the clamps much better, faster and easier. It cuts just as well as the others, but has the center guide strip and TWO zero clearance anti-chip strips instead of one like all other brands. That plus the anti-kickback feature sold me. I am not knocking the other brands. Those are good too. But THIS saw is my go-to choice for site work because of it’s unique features no other track saw has. That, plus the impressive lasting power of the 60 volt battery sold me
