Let me start by saying I’m a big fan of DeWalt power tools. I have about 6 or 7 DeWalt hand tools, most of them cordless. But their 14” folding string trimmer is not the best designed tool. I’ve had a difficult time locking it into a straight position, and then again when trying to fold it after use. To their credit, DeWalt doesn’t advertise this string trimmer for doing edging, but I’ve always used my string trimmer to edge along all sidewalks and my patio. It can be done with this trimmer, but it’s awkward at best. After cutting my thumb trying to fold it, I decided to put it away and buy a smaller, easier to handle trimmer with auto-feed line…no more bumping to feed line, which was driving me crazy with the DeWalt.

My rating of average is due to this tool’sless than comfortable ease of use. I guess the trimmer should be shorter in length.

This weedeater works great, works better than my gas powered one. It will last A pretty good while on the low setting, however on the high setting will go through the battery fairly quick. I have a few 5 amp hour batteries so it’s not a problem

Outstanding trimmer. However, don’t bother with anything other than 0.80 line. If you use a larger size, you will not like this trimmer. The line jams in the spooler. I don’t understand why they don’t just inform you of that. 0.80 works fantastic. Hopefully, you read this before learning the hard way. Love Dewalt

Love the power and versatile use of the battery system for the rest of my tools.

Just what I wanted easy to fold and store away, also light weight

Working fine but, I was hoping it was lighter, it’s not. Also, an extra battery would be nice. Work on one while charging the second, hey, it gets things done quicker. Well, guess I can buy another one separately. It’s just gas, I guess.

I bought this trimmer today after doing some research. What I’m surprised at is how much debris and grass cuttings spit up on the user, I was covered in grass clippings after doing a small portion of my yard.It seems the design of the grass guard is not wide enough.I was looking forward to using a battery trimmer vs gas but it seems I need to return this and get a gas machine. This machine had potential.

Love my new trimmer. The battery is powerful and lasts the whole time needed for my medium-sized yard (the first ever to do so). It replaced a gas-powered Husqvarna which was dependable, but heavier and the bump cap wore out. Time will tell if the Dewalt holds up, but so far, I love it!

I love this weed wacker. Very powerful and seems to run forever on One battery.

Plenty of power. I have an acre with lots of area to weedeat, it got me through most of the property on one charge on the low power setting.

Being part of the DEWALT 20V Lithium family was a big part of the value proposition: I have over a dozen DEWALT XR tools. Brushless is also nice. But the balance of this tool is poorer than others (non DEWALT 20V) and the folding handle is not that useful to me and adds a small amount of noticeable wobble to the shaft. Largest negative is the design does not safely allow for ‘edging’ (weed-wacking sideways) without throwing debris towards the user. I usually purchase only bare tools, but this combo is a good value for an extra 5AH battery and another faster (DB115) charger.

Bought for my dad as he’s older and can’t really use pull strings due to his shoulder! So far it’s worked great and he can easily get all the trimming done on his 1 acre property with 1 battery

I’m very pleased with how easy this trimmer is to handle. Will need another battery to stay charged since I have a large yard.

Using this trimmer as is from the factory, i would only give it a 4 star. it cuts good and battery life is decent, but reloading the line is terrible. I would highly recommend that anyone who buys this trimmer to buy a Speed loader 400 replacement head from ECHO. it is a universal fit, and will make this trimmer beyond amazing. it will be a little smaller on the cut radius, but the fast loading and thicker line capabilities it will have after will make it worth it. i use it to edge on low power and to weed eat on high, and i end up with 2 of 3 bars on battery life at the end since the better line makes the work faster and easier.

As a trimmer it works very well, much better than the electric trimmers I’ve had in the past. The string that came with the trimmer is much more durable that other string I have used. The only complaint would be the lack of balance between the battery at the top and the cutting head at the bottom.

I’ve always owned Echo gas powered tools. This was the second DeWalt yard tool I have purchased. I have the hedgetrimmers that work great. This tool works great as well. I have a big corner lot with lots of St. Augustine grass which is hard to cut through. I’ve always used my trimmer as an edger too. This has plenty of power. It spins fast even when using the .095 trim line. I have no problem with the battery life as well. With the bigger batter it does way a bit more. When I use this as an edger is when I tend to run into issues with the line jamming. It took me some time to figure out how to quickly pull it out, but do have issues with it getting jammed. I can go a while without stopping, yet this is one feature I didn’t have issues with on the echo. It appears to work similar so not sure what the issue. Will update once I figure out if there is a trick that I’m not figuring out.

I have a large corner lot and it takes care of all my edging and trimming on low with one charge and still plenty of battery left.
