This 20-Volt MAX 14 in. String Trimmer features an innovative folding hinge mechanism that reduces the length by 41% for accessible storage and quick portability. Great so far. My previous Black and Decker was much cheaper but used batteries that I only used for it. As that was one’s plastic guard broke, was short for me (6’4”), and want very balanced; I wanted something with better. It’s much more convenient to use this length, battery system I use with other tools, and is definitely more balanced – I couldn’t be more satisfied. I don’t have a lot to trim so I can’t comment on maximum battery life. It works and works well.

With the help of a DeWalt replacement spool nut and a few washers I was able to attach a 6-1/2 inch carbide blade. I’m now able to cut down brush, up to one and a half inch diameter.

I agree that the head is very heavy and the balance is poor. As shown in another review I am adding weight (ankle weight) to the battery and a strap to make using it more comfortable.

Bought this trimmer and matching hedge trimmer. Already had the 20v max blower and chainsaw. Works great, plenty of power and quieter than my old gas model. It does seem unbalanced to me. With the motor in the head, it’s feels heavier than my actual heavier gas model. I’m going to try moving the handle in front of the joint and see if that helps.
