got this at beginning of summer and it has worked great. used it in really thick, tall grass and didn’t so well, but that was expected. overall, maintenance around the house has been awesome with it. super light, easy to use. only problem is cost. 🙂

This line trimmer has exceeded my expectations. I got about 40 min of run time on a 6ah battery. I was initially concerned with the small size of the guard, but I find that I prefer the small one as it allows me to get into smaller spaces. It is a bit lighter than my gas trimmer and much quieter.

I’m a homeowner and I use this tool about three times a month during the northwest growing season. This tool is as powerful as any gas powered weed trimmer I’ve ever used. And I love the fact that I don’t have to mix gas or spend a lot of time and effort trying to get the thing started. Just look on the battery and let it rip. I have 2 flex volt batteries 6.0AH and 9.0AH and I use them both. The 9.0 batteries carry a substantially greater charge but they are a bit heavier, no big deal. This thing means business, saying that you definitely hav etc dress for the occasion. The guard is small which allows for a lot of debris flying everywhere including up you pant legs. Can be very messy, just plan for it and wear PPE$. The auto feed head is weak, I had to buy a new one so I bought another auto feeder. Would love to see Dewalt offer a precut string head and also a blade trimmer head.

I like being able to use this weed wacker using my batteries I use at work. It works better than I thought it would! I’ve owned several weed eater gas jobbers and hated them all. This is great no mixing fuel no carb gumming up over winter just plug in a battery and wack some weeds!!! If you don’t have one but one.

I have never been a big fan of string trimmers, they have always caused more problems than eliminated in the past. This year I needed to clean up some land and patches of long grass the mower cannot cut. This trimmer worked great, and with the battery lasted easily 3 hours or more when I used it. The line broke often, and I had to take the spool of and rethread the line a few times, but it got the job done.

I bought this a week ago and finally got the chance to use it. For the past 5 years I’ve been using a cord operated one with a shorter shaft (Craftsman) and my back would wear out using it, but THIS ONE, with the longer shaft and good balance made it a pleasure to trim the grass around the yard, driveway, and curb. Although the manual states that it is not an edger, the angle of the head worked very well trimming along the driveway and curb. The smaller guard made it easier to see where I wanted to trim and enabled me to get in areas that I had difficulty before (like around and under the gas meter). The low setting worked very well with the thick Bermuda grass bunched up along the fence…I can’t imagine having to use the higher one! I’m 62 and had as much fun using this one as I did ‘way back in the mid ’70’s when the “weed eater” first came out! No more having to lug around that 100 ft+ extension cord or the old gas operated one. Thank you DeWalt People!!!

This trimmer is very powerful. But only if you consider that it is battery powered. I live on a rural, wooded lot and prefer to use a bladed head rather than string. This trimmer just didnt have the torque needed to drive the blades head through tall grass. I gave it to my sister and it is absolutely perfect for her typical suburban application. She’s thrilled to not need to mix gas or pull start her string trimmer ever again.

For years I lived on 3 acres of land, and relied on a pro-grade Stihl gas-powered trimmer for most of the yard. It had the power, and it could go all day. The only problem was maintenance. You had to work to keep the engine in good working shape, you had to keep gas on hand, and that doesn’t even mention the noise or the fumes. When I moved to a half-acre yard, I gave the Stihl to a friend, and looked for something a bit smaller. Having always loved DeWalt tools, I decided to try the Flexvolt Trimmer. I did have hesitations about the power that a battery powered outdoor tool could provide, but the location of purchase had a decent return policy, so I decided to try it out.The first day I used it this past summer, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was it weighted well, but it felt sturdy, seemed really well-built, and felt the way it should. I charged the battery (it came with a 9ah battery), and headed out. The noise is more than manageable (especially coming from a gas trimmer) and I don’t feel like I’ve really lost much (if any) power. I love that the trimmer has a high and low mode. I was able to trim the entire property on one battery (even though I had to eject new string multiple times), which really surprised me. I had bought a second one as a backup, but didn’t really need to use it. As a whole, for small yards, this is a no-brainer. It has all the power you need, it cuts through the weeds with ease, lasts a long time, and I feel like it will be with me for years. DeWalt, keep making the Flexvolt line, and I’ll keep using them!

I bought my string trimmer to replace a hard to start gas trimmer. I have used it 4-5 times to trim around my fenced in yard and trees and I haven’t had to charge it yet.

I bought this ability 4 months ago and used it many times. Works very well, cuts great and battery last for about an hour.

It’s so quiet and powerful all at the same time. I couldn’t believe how well it worked. I have about 1.75 acres and it will last long enough for me to go around everything I need it to. I have been recommending it to everyone looking for a new trimmer!

I own three of these trimmers, they are very solid and dependable. I also own Stihl gas powered and an Echo electric trimmers — we have about 4 acres on a steep hillside and the string trimmers are the way to go. The Dewalt is the easiest to operate, it’s very powerful for the weight – it even goes right through tough blackberries. The newest model has improved the string feeding, which was my main complaint with the first 60v model. Even my daughters can handle this unit, the larger ECHO and Stihl products are much heavier and harder to handle. I recommend the 9Ah batteries, you should get 45 mins of life. I recommend taking a break every hour to let the head cool off, if it’s hot outside and the mowing is heavy. One thing to keep in mind is super thick, wet spring grass, you might want to go with gas powered. I smoked one of the first 60v heads, I think this might have been my fault. It’s out of warrantee and I’m happy to send it in to Dewalt for them to look at what caused it. I’m still a huge fan and bought two more of these units, they are great.
