This line trimmer has exceeded my expectations. I got about 40 min of run time on a 6ah battery. I was initially concerned with the small size of the guard, but I find that I prefer the small one as it allows me to get into smaller spaces. It is a bit lighter than my gas trimmer and much quieter.

I just got this trimmer a few days ago and after using it for about 30 minutes I’ve decided to return it. It has adequate power and I like the idea of not having to deal with another 2-cycle device, but it has two major problems in my opinion. First, the “shield” is not big enough and lots of debris gets thrown back at your legs and some even hit me in the face. I’ve been using string trimmers for probably 30 years and never had one blast me with this much stuff. Second, the method for replacing the line is not as good as on my old Toro. I didn’t get to the point of actually replacing the line, but just reading the instructions it sounds like you have to wind the line one direction on one side of the spool & the other way on the other side and somehow hold both lines while you reinstall the spool. This is the way my previous trimmer worked and that was about a 10 or 15 year old design. On my Toro, which is at least 5 years old, you just run the line through the spool and turn the bump knob to wind the line onto the spool. Now I have to see if I can get the DeWalt back in the box!

I’m very happy with the performance of this trimmer. I have 2 6Ah batteries and they last through my whole yard.If you’re tired of mixing gas, puling on start cords and electric trimmers that under preform, I highly recommend the 60v Lithium-Ion from Dewalt. Be sure to get at leas 6Ah batteries.

The trimmer exceeded my expectations. I was skeptical about a battery powered trimmer compared to my old gas trimmer. The power and run time are both great. Haven’t tried the thicker line, but expect it to perform well. It is worth the money if you have any tools in the FlexVolt lineup.
