After owning and loving the 20v string trimmer, I decided to purchase the 60v as I have a couple extra flex-volt 6AH batteries and absolutely love how these trimmers perform. I have a 1 acre lot with a bunch of landscaping, flower beds, a winding creek going through my property and a fairly long driveway that I like to keep trimmed up. I have no problem getting it all done with the 9AH (3AH @ 60v) battery that comes with the kit. When I let the creek go 2.5 [spring] weeks without trimming I chose to swap the battery part way through with the extra one I kept in my hoodie pocket to help minimize full battery discharge / cycling but I have no doubt I could have finished without the swap. No need for gas tools, I wish these were available when I was a young lawn maintenance entrepreneur. Yes it has a small guard, yes I’ve been hit in the shin with landscape stones — not anymore than with “commercial grade” gas trimmers from Husq and Stihl. Boots, trousers, and eye protection should be standard PPE for any string trimming operation. One benefit now is the hearing protection and anti-vib gloves can stay on the shel!

My husband loves it. He especially loves the battery type. He did so much research on a weed wacker and concluded this was the only one worth getting. Even though most of what he describes goes over my head, his expression and excitement tells me enough that this product is quality. ***But take caution!: make sure the box is factory sealed! The first time we picked one up, someone bought and returned the box with a 20v machine inside and stole the battery. THAT also tells me how good this product is.

Bought the trimmer after a price drop and needing to replace my old electric trimmer that I have had for 20yrs or so. We have 2.5 acres with a fence line and two houses on the property that sit on slopes. The riding lawn mower does not do too well against the fence or on the slopes and the old weed wacker required too many cords to reach the far fence line. Decided to by the DeWalt 60v cordless. The trimmer is a little on the heavy side but balances well with its length and battery pack on the rear. The power – Amazing. It’s not uncommon for it to twist in the hand when engaging thick stalks of brush. Run time on the battery was more than enough to finish my fence line and around the two houses. I do have a 60v flexvolt saw so the two battery packs are nice. Warning: wear long pants and eye protection when using. I wore shorts my first (and last) time and my shins got pretty tattered from the flying debris. Great trimmer

I purchased this trimmer over the Summer to deal with my small property. As a student of the trades and a worker in them during college, I have always had a good relationship and experience with DeWalt products. I love this trimmer. It has become a challenge to find ethanol-free fuel and then the oil/gas mixture of my previous trimmers was always a pain. Finally, starting the trimmers was always hit or miss. All of those problems are gone. The trimmer has all the power to complete my yard and use very little battery so I’m sure it would work for any larger property. After a few use/charge cycles, I took care of my lawn, and two of my neighbors properties and I still had battery left. The battery in this product actually comes with an indicator button that will tell you how much power you have left so you can monitor. The trimmer is no heavier than the typical gas trimmer and obviously money will be saved on the fuel. Just as important, I can go right to work without worrying about starting for 30 minutes. I love this trimmer and the fact that the battery can work with the 20v MAX tool range is just icing on the cake.

Very strong trimmer. Overall very good. Good battery run time, however i am very disappointed in how the battery attaches to the trimmer. Every time i need to charge battery, i literary HAVE TO BEAT IT OUT! I HAVING TO TAKE A HAMMER AND USING THE WOOD HANDLE TO TAP BATTERY OFF EVERY TIME I NEED TO CHARGE. T DOES NOT WANT TO RELEASE FROM TRIMMER. Home depot will not exchange cause i missplaced my receipt. I own about 12 different dewalt tools but this one dissapointed me.
