This Center Sensor Stud Finder has a detection depth of 1-1/2 in. for wood and metal. Traditional stud sensors locate the edge of the stud, but our new product locates the center for a more efficient read, even when held at an angle. Plus, it is constantly calibrating to save time during use. An audible alert and directional LED arrows clearly notify you once the stud is located and you can easily mark the center of the stud with the center marking channel.

Product actually works Great. Love DeWalt. Very sleek design and easy to use. “Left to Right” never right to left.

This studfinder was easy to use. Once the nail was located, the stud was behind it & a bracket was mounted on the wall so a TV could be hung.

Works great. Love the ability to detect live wire. Very accurate. Takes a second to understand how it works, but once you do it’s great. It detects the center of the stud for you.

The front package information reads/pictures that it works for 1-inch wall thickness for wood studs and 1.5 inches for metal studs. The Dewalt and Home Depot websites say 1.5 inches wall thickness for both. I had to find the wood studs thru 3/8 ” shower tiles plus 1/2″ sheet-rock, for hand rail installation. It found them okay, red light right on center. The whole wall is tiled so I couldn’t just look for sheet-rock nail surface imperfections above the tiles. I experimented around the house a little bit, inside that is, on locations where I could see the sheet-rock nail locations, to gain confidence that it was working properly, before I drilled holes thru the shower tiles. I experimented with the electrical cable setting and it let me know one was back there somewhere, away from where I had to drill. I gave it a 4/5 because it worked for what I needed it for versus the prices of the others. July 2020.

Finder is too wide, making it unable to get close to side walls to check for studs/wires. Also, reading is not very positive: run it over a stud one time and it doesn’t sense, run it over again and there it is! Hard to have much confidence in it 🙁

This stud finder can tell the difference between studs and pipes, which is very important.

Works reasonably well. I found it i a little vague on the electric sensor readings.

Finding studs is much like water witching. This new stud finder is an improvement over my past units. It is not magic, I just have a bit more confidence in the tool.

I used this stud finder to find the studs in the ceiling in a rental property that a friend owns. The dry wall was letting loose.
