This Center Sensor Stud Finder has a detection depth of 1-1/2 in. for wood and metal. Traditional stud sensors locate the edge of the stud, but our new product locates the center for a more efficient read, even when held at an angle. Plus, it is constantly calibrating to save time during use. An audible alert and directional LED arrows clearly notify you once the stud is located and you can easily mark the center of the stud with the center marking channel.

It met its expectations. It worked great on metal stud wall layout. suspended ceiling layout. Level pier and beam house. Level up carport roof. Hard to see lazar light in full sun on concrete slabs and concrete structure. Laid out walls and check plum and line. Used (black paper) help see laser line. I’m still (old school) double check ,use 4ft.level, string level and plumb bob. I can put those tools away & used lazar level now .I rate lazer level good with four stars.

Best stud finder I’ve ever owed. Lost mine stud finder bought a diff brand that was on the expensive side but it was crappy. Easily returned it and bought this one for half the price. Ended up buying one for my dad too.

So first off, I was very displeased with this stud finder, I was about to return it. However since my old stud finder stopped working(not dewalt) I had no choice but to try this unit again. I’m rather glad I gave it another go. After giving it more time after pressing the power button, and going slower, this unit worked flawlessly every single time. However I was working on a known wall that I just sheetrocked, but was still a tad hesitant when I went to an unknown wall to hang the cabinets that needed to go up. But going slower and giving this little thing some time to “warm up” each time I used it, I became very confident in it’s ability to do what it’s advertised to do. However the instructions that are included with this stud finder are a joke. Also you have to move it fairly slow, which I’m not used to with other brands. But all in all I’m very happy with it.

The Dewalt Stud Finder is a nice, light-weight, affordable device that is easy to use and effective in pin-pointing studs. I used it to help me mount a tv stand, where I had to be spot-on in locating the studs. What can I say—a week after I mounted the tv and it’s still on the wall. What more could I ask?
