Just what I needed. So, what do you get? 3 AAA’s, a lanyard and a carrying pouch with a Velcro strap. Convenient for attaching to your tool belt or handle on your rolling cart. It features a color screen that rotates from portrait to landscape when rotated. It can be attached to a tripod and has an integrated flip down stand. The DW016S is intuitive to use. Click the DIST button to initiate and press again to take your measurement. Relative to measurements it will calculate distance, volume and area. Very handy indeed. It claims a +- 1/16” accuracy over 30 feet and with my use it actually bested that claim. I used it to calculate how much base and crown to purchase for the bathroom remodel I was working on. It was a time saver and convenient compared with a tape. I have only began to scratch the surface relative to what the DW016S can do. I’m looking forward to using it on upcoming jobs.

So far it works fine but the instructions suck to say the least. Basically hieroglypics. It would be nice to have some actual words explaining how to use the different functions. I’ve figured out several of them so far but I bought this for my wife who is a realtor and she needs instructions.

I received this unit about 2 months ago and have used it extensively. I love the variety of features it allows you to do, as well as how it allows you to take multiple measurements and then it calculates the square footage for you. All around it is a great addition to my DEWALT tools.

I received this tool though the Dewalt tool program to test. I have to say… it’s now one of my favorites. When it comes to measuring from one side of a room to another for trim, flooring, sheetrock and such… I can not imagine an easier way. This tool will also measures square footage. It definitely increases time while talking to customers during quotes. It’s a winner!!

Has come in handy on a number of occasions. But somewhat complicated to use sometimes. And a little heavy but overall very useful in making very accurate measurements.

The distance laser is accurate and easy to use. You just point and press a button and you have your measurement. I really like how you can switch from feet to inches, to feet/inches or even metric without having to retake the measurement each time you switch function. It holds up to 4 measurement at a time on the screen, but once they scroll off you lost the measurement, which I didn’t care for. The tool is small enough to slide in your pocket or your tool pouch with ease, or with the caring case you can attached it your belt, to have it handy to make getting those long measurements easy.

I used this device to assist during estimating my projects. When it is sunny the screen is difficult to read. I finally had to resort to using the traditional tape measure. I tried using indoors and it was accurate. I found it difficult to find the method to powering it up. Through trial and error I was able to succeed. I received no user instructions so again I had to attempt to navigate it as best I could.

I received the dw01 6-5 last month and was pleasantly surprised. The accuracy is unparalleled in the ease of use is truly simple. No more climbing on ladders, or reading around the corner, for finding somebody to hold the dummy end of the tape measure!

Pros: Nice case included. Light weight. Very durable. I dropped it from an 8’ ladder 4-5 times and still accurate at 30’ within 1/16”.Cons: Directions are terrible. Does not work outdoors in bright light

I had no idea how useful this tool would be. I own several apartments and this is great to measure rooms very quickly so that I can keep the measurements in a log. Whenever I am out and I see good deals on carpet or flooring, I have the measurements on hand so that I can take advantage of good buys. This allows you to know measurements without having to use a tape measure to get around furniture and other objects. I am very impressed with the accuracy; it is very reliable.
