Dont go getting rid of your traditional tape measures and measuring wheels, but there are far more pros to this little gadget than there are cons. First and foremost. This laser measure is pretty darn accurate and the results are repeatable. I was quite surprised. Its small enough to fit in my pocket and it feels solid in the hand. You dont have to be a rocket scientist to use this thing either as its fairly straight forward. The digital read out is very visible even in direct sun light so yeah I like it. I can definitely see where it can be useful to me.The reason I gave it 4 stars is because this distance measurer is best kept for indoor use. The reason being is in bright outside conditions it can be a bit of a pain to use. In order to get accurate measurements you need to be able to see what the laser is hitting, but on bright days outside the little red dot is impossible to see at a distance. Of course the downside to all of these laser measures is they need a solid surface for the laser to rebound off of. So its pretty much useless for something like laying out a foundation which is why I say dont go throwing out your tape measures.Overall I like the laser measure. There are many occasions I can see where it would be easier and less time consuming to use it instead of breaking out the old tape measure.

This small package does it all in a small convenient package. This laser is great for residential projects and gets you within an 1/8″ – 1/2″ depending on the distance. Great for fast take offs or approximating sq ft. Pros- pocket size- great battery life- easy read displayCons- would not recommend for large projects- definitely need to read instructions for user operations

Needed this for quick estimation of network cable length… compact unit, so far no issues. Wish it had come with some sort of protective case (as it is now crashing around in my toolbag) but I managed to find something that fit. The 65ft limitation might be a problem for some people…. but I’m sure there would be an easy workaround for that. (ie: measure to a fixed halfway point) Got it on sale, which made it a pretty good buy

I needed something to measure my room size a bit more convenient than a tape measure, and since I like Dewalt tools, I decided on the Dewalt Laser Distant Measure. 65 feet is plenty enough for my purpose and the accuracy of 1/8″ is certainly better than I could measure with an tape, especially as I don’t have one that long.The laser can also calculate the square footage of your room as well as the volume, if you should need that for some reason.It is easy to operate and just what I wanted/needed.

The product works great as long as you just want to use it indoors. However the screen is very hard to read when you get it outside in the sun. I took the product back for that reason.

It is handy and light to carry around.. I need one for am as built field measurement of a remodel project that instant, it was between two brands. I liked it for the black background and white numbers. wrong it was not readable outside. Just not happy with it. I have used better one. it does have and easy unit change from feet and inches to just feet or inch. also easy to change from imperial to metric measurement. For me Dewalt could have dome better and i was expecting it to be made in the US not China.
