The DEWALT Combilaser Self Leveling 5-Spot Beam/Horizontal Line Laser Level projects 5 bright spot beams for precise plumb and horizontal point transfer. Accurate to 1/8 in. at 100 ft., this laser also features a rear-projecting horizontal line which aids in additional leveling applications. It self-levels when within 4° of plane and the beam has an indoor visibility of 100 ft. This laser level was purchased as a replacement for a failed laser level of a different manufacturer. I wish this laser as been offered by my vendor as the initial laser. Very easy to set up right out of the case. Simple operation to unlock and turn on. I checked it against known level marks in our lab and this laser is spot on (pardon the pun), and well worth the investment. At a similar cost this unit is superior to my previous unit, and I would easily recommend this unit.

This is a good laser level for interior work. I tried it for exterior foundation formwork and had a hard time seeing the laser dot in daylight. I was shooting around 40′ feet outside. I had borrowed a PLS3 from a friend that I was using a had little problems with it under the same conditions.

I was doing a project where we were putting shiplap on the front of a fireplace. Whether you started at the top or the bottom, when you got to where the fireplace was, you had to worry about each board lining up perfectly so that when you reached the hearth, they would be in alignment. The Dewalt self-leveling laser was invaluable in keeping those boards lined up. I put it on a photography tripod and could easily raise and lower it as we added each row. When we reached the point where we could use a full board, the two sides were within 1/64″. I can’t imagine how we could have made this work without the level. The product was extremely easy to set up and use. I haven’t used the magnetic attach points, but I can see how easy that would be to use in some environments. The only thing that would have made this five star is if the product produced both a vertical and horizontal line.
