The DeWalt Green self leveling cross line laser is a must have for tile work. The projection of the green lines are accurate and easy on the eyes. The tool box it came in was a bit larger than anticipated but well cushioned for years of service. Coupled with a hand crank adjustable tripod, this will be a very versatile tool added to my collection. I wish Home Depot had the DeWalt line of Laser levels in the stores to visualize and touch.

Whether you need to hang a mirror, frame a door, or install a drop ceiling, this level kit is versatile and full of features. Tinted glasses help you see the line in bright light conditions, as well as the magnetic tag that you can hang from a drop ceiling. The laser itself has a magnetic angled base for attachment to a tripod, the included clamp, or other metal surface. You can activate either the horizontal or vertical laser or both at the same time. The laser can freely rotate for alignment. The lithium ion battery is included with charger, but has an option for a AA battery pack as well. Built well, and meant for the job site. I did not have a job to demonstrate with at the time, but was quickly able to tell that the trim on my doors were actually level as you can see in the first photo. Very easy to use and has a good coverage around the room without being a more expensive 360 degree laser.

I don’t know how anybody could honestly say this laser won’t do what they wanted it to do, unless they were trying to level a toilet, because that’s where their review is-in the toilet. Seriously, a 3 beam laser will top this one? How? You can’t accurately use a 3 beam laser for laying out walls, period. Armed with this laser, you can frame ANYTHING. Grid ceilings? Perfect. Pictures? Too many variables with location of the wires/hanging plates, but can give you a perfect line on where the top of said pictures should go. All in all, the best laser out there for the money.

Green beam provides sharp, easier to see line. I tested this laser against the Bosch GLL3-300 360 degree red laser and found the Dewalt forward only cross beam kit superior. The green beam was better than the Bosch red beam in most interior conditions and worlds better outdoors. I preferred the rechargeable batteries on the Dewalt to AA system on the Bosch. But the magnetic L mounting bracket on the Dewalt is poor and you’ll need to find an alternative (like the one that comes with the Bosch). About my rating:5 stars – Exceeds all expectations. Better than the competition in all aspects, design, cost, operation, and support (A+). 4 stars – Nicely done. Better than the competition and solves the problem. (B)3 stars – Works as expected. Has some shortcomings but gets the job done. Might be short in design, cost, longevity, or support. (C).2 stars – Falls short of expectations and needs improvement. Pass and look elsewhere. (D)1 star – Fails miserably. Does not get the job done, might even make things worse. Someone at the company should be fired. (F)

Purchased this unit to build some retaining walls in my yard and it saved me so much time during the leveling process. I give it a “good” rating because the laser line is a bit hard to see when it’s sunny but if you use it early or late in the day (or when it’s cloudy) it is easily visible at about 30′.
