Excellent power while mixing thin set. Didn’t bog down at all. Hardest part is holding the mixing bucket down so it doesn’t spin! Only negative part is that it doesn’t come with a case or a bag, like every other Dewalt tool I have does. Bummed out about that. Bought a medium sized bag on online to store it in. Include a bag Dewalt!

Very strong drill. 7/8″ auger bit went into wood so deep so fast it stuck before I could reverse it. I couldn’t pull it out. Trying to reverse out of hole broke chuck screw, and Chuck unscrewed. Replaced chuck screw, cleared hole frequently and quickly drilled numerous holes through 11″ yellow pine

I installed over 250 SF of stone siding. Without this drill I would have had a miserable time mixing nearly a ton of mortar in 3 gallon batches. Loads of power, smooth as silk. Was amazing to see the heavy mortar turned to liquid in just over a minute of mixing. You absolutely cannot get a better drill for the money. This is a must have for sheet rock mud or concrete mixing in five gallon buckets. You can mix and entire bag of 60 lbs of concrete in a mud pan in just over a minute. The secret is to keep the depth of what your mixing under about one foot deep. What a pleasure this made of mixing concrete, mortar and sheet rock mud! This is a must have tool in every home builders tool kit.

Brought this drill to mix many bags of mud for a whole house tiling project. If you plan on laying floor tile and need to mix many bags of thinset you will NEED one of these. Forget wasting money on cheaper or less powerful drills. You will burn them up one by one! I smoked two corded drills and almost burnt out my 18 volt ridged cordless before breaking down and buying this one. It might be pricy, but it will get the job done. Variable speed will keep mud from flying everywhere when starting with more water in the pail then mud. All in all I have mixed at least 30 fifty pound bags of thinset and its still going strong. Made well and made to last. Buy a quality tool like this and only cry once, when it’s time to pay for it. Not twice when a lesser quality one dies on you!

I really this tool. I’ve mixed cement, thin set, self leveling cement and joint compound. It mixed perfectly. I personally always start with just a third of the bag. It makes it easier for me although you could mix the entire bag at once. It has plenty of power. Only con would be its corded. It’s a hassle having to get the extension cord to mix outside. Other than that I the quality, power and the way it feels in your hands when your mixing is great!

I have only used the Dewalt 9 Amp spade handle drill a few times to mix thin set, drywall compound, and to drill holes through studs for wiring. I purchased it primarily to mix mud. It handles the job well with lots of power. The spade handle adjusts to horizontal or vertical positions, which is a nice feature, as well as the main handle can be switched from side to side. The drill meets my expectations, however a case to store it in would give it five stars from my point of view.
