First of all it wasn’t a black and gold bit…it was all black oxide. The reduced shank just fit into my 1/2″ drill motor. It was sharp and I found it to do the job easily. It is a bit expensive, but I needed a 5/8″ bit. A pilot hole is suggested to help the bit turn true.

I used it to drill some holes on the frame of my truck and it held up . You do need to run it at a slow speed with some lubrication I used regular engine oil that was left over after an oil change to keep the drill bit cooler .If you over heat the drill bit I don’t think it will last long also I used step drilling where you start with a smaller drill .
