The taper of the main bit lets you just mark and go at it, thought the champfer collar on it can get stuck even in soft pine if you just go full bore on it.

The best countersink drill bit that I have ever used. With a little practice you can control the depth of countersink in order to get a flush surface result or completely bury the screw head. I did manage to break off the sharp tapered tip when I hit a nail…..did a little internet search and found that a replacement bit costs about 80% of the cost of a whole new setup at Home Depot.
