WAS ABLE TO RELOCATE THE STOP, ALLOWED BIT TO JUST DRILL A LITTLE AND THEN DO A COUNTER SINK FOR THE HEAD OF THE SCREW. USED ON DECK BOARDS SO AS NOT TO CAUSE BOARDS NOT TO SPLIT AT VERY END.

This is the easiest way to insure you aren’t going to split your wood and will be able to quickly have the right hole drilled for a perfect wall built, for an exact mark made for hanging pictures and any other time that you feel just a normal screw drilled in gives you a little bit of trouble, with this countersink you won’t ever have to deal with that problem ever again!!

Just used it for first time to build a free-standing shelf unit a and was impressed with how easy it was to use and how well it worked. Conntersunk about three dozen 3 inch screws without any problems. Just make sure adjustable collar is set to desired depth with Allen wrench ( not included) and you’re good to go.

I’ve owned and used these bits for a few years now and this one purchased was a replacement for a worn out one. However, it broke on the first hole I was drilling. The bottom piece pulled out of the holder but the bit was still in place and in the hole. I got a replacement for this replacement and it is working fine. Thus, the average rating.

I have been through four or five of these. Three or four have snapped and broken, and one failed in another way (the quick release separated from the shank of the bit). I don’t feel like I have much choice but to keep buying more, at nearly $10.00 each, because I can’t find a similar product NY a different brand, and I need it. It would be nice if they sold just the tapered bit to replace when they snap off, instead of having to buy the whole new countersink unit. It is fitted with Allen screws so the bit could be replaced, if a bit could be found at retail stores where the complete unit is sold. I love DeWalt brand, and I haven’t experienced premature failure or breakage with any of their other products, so I was disappointed with the quality of this item.
