Yes, it is pretty heavy, but it will last a long time and I like it!

I bought my DW317 10 yrs ago, very happy with the saw. Its the blades I need direction. Unlike so many my U type blades never fall out, they just break or bend. H/D only has 1 style U blades and there very thin and expensive. Can I use the T style blade for my DW317 work horse? Please advise.

I really like my new Dewalt jig saw. Very good quality

It should have came w a hard case n at least one blade, if not a three pack. I’m not sure why it is marketed as a “Kit” if nothing comes w it. A cloth mini bag doesn’t cut it. The saw itself is fine, gets the job done, but I was annoyed I had to buy blades separately.

USED TH PRODUCT TO MAKE CURVED CUTS IN TREATED 2X6’S FOR A PERGOLA. THE SAW HANDLED IT WITH NO PROBLEMS. BOUGHT THE BOSCH SAWBLADES WITH IT.

I have had my DeWalt Jig saw going on 17 years now. One of the first DeWalt tools I ever bought. It has more then proved its self to me. And I believe it still cuts just as good today as it did the day I bought it. I build cabinets for a living so I do use my jig saw quite a lot when I’m installing cabinets. About my only complaint would be the way the base attaches to the saw its self. It is nice in the fact its easy to change the angle. But every once in a while i notice my cut is not straight up and down and its because the base has moved a few degrees in one direction or the other. Doesn’t take but a minute to correct it, just gets annoying sometimes when I forget to check it before my first cut. But besides that its really a great tool, plenty of power, makes tight turns with little effort, and feels good in my hand. One thing I do notice a lot of people do wrong when using a jig saw is they will leave the blade on there till it literally is burning its way through the cut, then they wonder why their cut looks like a 3 yr old did it in their sleep. If you keep a sharp blade on it you want have near as many problems using one or making a straight cut.

I’ve wanted a jigsaw for awhile now. Extremely satisfied with how this model worked for me. I knew it would work as accepted because I only buy Dewalt tools. Never disappointed, always Superior. I highly recommend. ej

Can’t really rate it as places that sell Dewalt products don’t sell the saw blades. Probably will return it and buy a brand where I can purchase saw blades locally.

Bought jig to install doggie door. Read instructions then put it to work. It cut and handled easily and accurately. When I took it out of the box it seemed to be a bit heavy but in use it turned out to be needed and an advantage. One drawback it had only one blade (wood) enclosed. Should of had a metal also anticipating usage and giving customer a look see of what DeWalt has available. I have a successful project thanks to the DW317.

I only purchased this because you didn’t sell a cordless ridged jigsaw. Regardless, its not bad. Its average

This Jig Saw is absolutely worth every penny. It cuts extremely smooth and is easier to control due to the weight of the saw. It is a solid piece of equipment and I am very happy with it

So I initially set out to buy the DW317 jigsaw based on using the one at work for about 5 years with multiple users and no issues. My old one had quit and I was going to make up for 15 years of using a subpar Jigsaw. I went to my local Home Depot and checked out the jigsaws in stock and decided I needed one with the sawdust blowing feature. I decided on a blue 6.5amp model with a dust blower. I went home and did some test cuts in my workshop. Now i’m no pro but after doing some strait cuts using a rafters square and some curved cuts freehand I was quite displeased at the amount of blade deflection this unit had. I could not get square cuts in 2X4 material. I inspected the guide wheel and realized there was a lot of play side to side. I just could not get decent results. So back to Home Depot I went to return the saw. Before I left I had to have one more look at the display units. I looked at the guide wheel on the DW317 and played with it a bit and realized it had very little play side to side. I purchased it and took it home . So hears the low-down. The blue saw had a few more features and was a step up from my old saw. The Dewalt DW317 is more compact, has plenty of power and less blade deflection by a fair margin. I was getting very good results on 2X4 material with strait and curved cuts using the exact same blade and techniques. I also found you could clear your cut line if you increase the speed of the motor even though it doesn’t technically have a dust blower. It was also less expensive and has a better warranty. 3 years as opposed to 1 year. This saw is the best bang for your buck in my opinion.
