The DEWALT 2-1/4 HP EVS Fixed Base Router with Soft Start offers all the power and versatility that professionals demand with its 12 amp motor with variable speed from 8000 to 24,000 RPM and soft start for extra-smooth finishes and exceptional performance when working with even the toughest hardwoods. With the micro-fine depth adjustment ring, you can count on accurate adjustment in 1/64 in. increments, while the clear LEXAN sub-base ensures durability and enhanced visibility. Comfortable to use with overmold rubber handles and a well-balanced body, the unique switch and cordset configuration allows you to keep the switch in your right or left hand, while a flat top and spindle lock further increase the ease of bit and depth changes.

Since then Dewalt has informed me that they will be sending out a new replacement. Kudos to Dewalt for standing behind their products and warranties. Impressed with overall quality and caliber. However, big hands and lock pin finger button is too “contained” in mechanism for easy use. I have to wedge a screw driver against it to keep the button depressed while using the wrench on the collar. Bad burr prevented use accessory on delivery. Redrilled

My intention was to mount this in a table to use, so I built my own, and it works just fine.Making adjustment with the unit after being mounted is somewhat cumbersome, but I can live with that.Change out of collets & bits are simple.

I purchased this to replace my 14 year old version of the same model which burned out. I have the whole kit with 3 bases, but it cost the same amount to buy this with the fixed base rather than just the replacement motor. This is a very good router and does everything I need in a router.

I have used many other brands of router and power tools from various brands, but I have to say that Dewalt is far superior to the other brands. That statement I will stand behind. This router has plenty of torque to hog off material regardless of the density of wood that you are working with. I use mine to flatten large live edge table tops and not once have I ever had to slow down cut speed or duration that I have been able to work due to the fact router doesn’t get hot due to the design Of the motor housing. The handles are comfortable and give you the perfect level of leverage to control the unit while working. If you pair this with the plunge base just takes the projects that can be taken on to a whole new level of ease and quality. The dust ejection works perfectly which saves time on the clean up after you had finished making your passes. This router came with both the 1/4” and 1/2” collet which allows the router to use various types bits.
