The DW618PKB 2-1/4 HP EVS Fixed Base Router / Plunge Router Combo Kit with Soft Start has a powerful motor for routing through tough hardwood at the user’s desired speed. This wood router combo kit features precise depth adjustments and fast, easy motor pack removal for bit and base changes. The plunge base integral dust collection provides superior bit visibility. The DW618PKB Wood Router Combo Kit includes DW618M motor pack, DW6184 fixed base, DW6182 plunge base, 1/4 in. and 1/2 in. collets, wrench, large hole sub-base, vacuum adapter, and a soft carry bag.

I bought this to replace a different brand router. This is so much smoother than the other. It is powerful enough to do almost any job with no issues. I ended up mounting this in my table and it sees use almost daily. After 2 years, I did have to replace a couple of parts – the spindle lock & spring. The lock button stop tab broke off and went shooting across the shop. I did find the lock button, but the spring was a lost cause, at least until the replacements arrived.I also ended up getting a spare fixed base (the first is permanently mounted in the table). The plunge base operates smoothly and locks firmly into position.

It has been one of the best routers I’ve ever used. The soft start is really nice so you don’t destroy your project, no matter what speed you are set at. It is definitely an investment though, I would not recommend this as a starter router purely due to its price. Although you do get what you pay for.

The router is well built and powerful. The plunge base is easy to handle. The edge guide makes it easier to route accurate grooves. I will set it up on my router table. Great router for beginners and pros. I recommend a corded router if you want to mount it on a router table.

This thing is a beast. A lot of power and a lot of control with the varying speeds. I would recommend. The only way they could make this better is to give it a solid carrying case instead of a cloth bag. It’s too bulky for the bag provided and should have more protection for transportation.

I absolutely love this Dewalt 12 amp router. The ability to switch between fixed and plunged is a huge upside. Who doesn’t like that kind of versatility? Bit changing is a piece of cake, as well as height adjustments, and overall the unit runs very smooth and straight. The router is strong, and I haven’t experienced any issues with it so far.
