I received the DeWalt WD680k Heavy Duty planer kit as a Christmas present. I haven’t used it yet but I have researched it extensively and the sad fact is DeWalt failed by making dust collection nearly impossible. I am considering taking this to a retailer that sales this model and exchanging it for a model or brand that offers but collection.

I recently bought this machine . Luckily I am basically a hand tool worker so honing the A2 steel blades was no problem for me . The cut of 0.1mm is very fine about 4/1000th of an inch . The machine leaves a great finish . If you are not too handy buy the carbide blades which De Walt says are not sharpenable but of course we know they are witha diamond plate . the reason i left one star off is because they saw fit in their wisdom to deprive us of a chintzy little $6 hose attachment and this yhing makes an unholy mess . Otherwise it is a greta little machine with precise controls.

For the most part, I am happy with the performance of the planer. The fob that dangles from the back end to prevent the blades from contacting the surface accidentally is a problem. It does not always flip up when the plane is moved forward to begin a pass. I found it to be a hindrance.
