Powerful. Easy to use and manipulate. Has easy to use, accurate stops for setting angles at .60 degrees to the right and 50 degrees to the left. It has a bevel range of 49 degrees in both the left and right directions. There are positive bevel stops at 0, 22.5 degrees, 33.9 degrees, 45 degrees and 49 degrees. There’s a video on You Tube showing how to adjust the saw for best accuracy, but mine came with everything set to use right out of the box. The slide system is smooth. It can cut 2×16 inch, 2×12 inch at a 45 degree angle and can cut up to 6.5 inches thick. My Home Depot saw came with a DeWalt 12 inch 32 Teeth Thin Kerf Miter Slide Circular Saw Blade worth in the neighbor hood of $30. It was on a Special Buy for $50 off and I got the veteran discount of 10%.The only saw that beats it in the reviews I looked at is the DeWalt DWS 780 with the XPS lighting system and apparently some heavier interior motor parts for $140 to $200 more.For around $80 you can buy a kit and add the XPS lighting system.

I’ve been running Dewalt for about 21 years. 22 years ago I bought a Rigid cordless set drill went out. 6 months of trying to get it repaired I gave up. Dewalt makes quality tools that they stand behind. This fully capable sliding compound miter saw (DS779) is an amazing deal for $349! It miters 50 degrees left and 60 degrees right and bevels 45 degrees in both directions. A full 12-inch siding board mitered at 35 degrees required only a very small finishing cut with a hand saw. With the stand, it handled and cut full dimension 16-foot 3×10 spruce rafters easily. Came with a 60 tooth blade. My only problem was that I initially ordered the 709 saw, which doesn’t slide, but was the same price (my mistake). Home Depot made the exchange as easy as possible for someone who lives almost 100 miles from their nearest store.
