You need accuracy from your miter saw and this tool gives you just that. The DEWALT 12 in. Double-Bevel Compound Miter Saw’s precise miter system and innovative machined base fence design offer long-term fence straightness from additional support. This miter saw comes equipped with a 15 Amp motor that delivers 3600 RPM for extended power and durability. This saw also includes the DEWALT XPS light.
- Cam lock miter handle with miter detent override that eliminates the need to twist the handle to lock in on the angle
- Double-bevel design that allows the saw to bevel left and right up to 48°
- Adjustable stainless steel miter detent plate with 11 positive stops
- Back fence design that enables you to cut 2 in. x 10 in. dimensional lumber at 90° and 2 in. x 8 in. lumber at 45°
- Tall sliding fences that support crown molding up to 6-5/8 in. nested and base molding up to 6-1/2 in. vertically against the fence while easily sliding out of the way for bevel cuts

I am certainly not an expert on power tools, and this is the first miter saw that I have used. I bought it 2 months ago for finishing off part of my basement. It certainly has met my needs after a short learning curve. The documentation was less than optimal, but the documentation is probably not needed for someone with more experience. I like the XPS light. It certainly makes the saw easier to use.

I did a lot of research before buying this particular saw. Weight is good and better balanced on miter cart than a slider, cuts are more accurate as well. The XPS lighting system is far superior to the laser some saws have. Price at HD is $100 less than MSRP and $50less than the DW716, which is the exact same saw without the lighting feature. One note of caution; my first miter cuts were off and I was worried that there was a problem with the saw. When I went back to the instructions it stated that the saw was adjusted at the factory, which it was, but it failed to mention that for shipping, to fit in the box, the vertical angle if off set slightly. once I adjusted it back to 90 degrees, it was perfect. I consider this my fault not theirs, should have checked everything.

This is the third saw of this type that I have owned. My first was a Delta, My second was a Bosche. I chose this one due to cost, the top mounted motor design, and the innovative XPS lighting system and couldn’t be more pleased. The mechanism is solid with no noticeable play. Careful checking for squareness and true showed less than 0.001″ off and less that 2 arc seconds in angle. Checking stops at 22-1/2 and 45 showed similar results. Even the blade that came with it was better than normal. The XPS light not only works as advertised, but self adjusts based on the blade installed. I love it. Would buy this again and recommend it to any of my woodworking friends.
