I bought this miter saw to replace an old non sliding miter saw. It is more accurate and has a greater cutting capacity.

i really like this chopsaw. It seems solid and easy to use. smooth, strong, and not too heavy. If i have one complaint its that the guard on dewalts saws seem to be getting wider and wider. But hasn t caused me any problems so.. owell.

This is the first saw I’ve had the pleasure of purchasing. I read reviews on other saw brands and sizes. I went with the 10″ from Dewalt solely based on reviews. I’m not much of a handy man but my garage needed some new tools and I’m planning on building a tool shed soon. I would recommend getting the light for unit. You may have to do some research finding it since it’s discontinued on Dewalts website. The dual beveled sliding action is smooth and cuts like butter. You will not be disappointed on this purchase.

I’ve owned a DW717 for eight years. I purchased the saw to cut a double bevel for a built-in cabinet molding; it has performed this operation exactly once–successfully. Since then I purchased a DW717 to cut a double-bevel miter on a built-in cabinet molding. It performed this job exactly once–successfully. Since then, I’ve used the saw almost exclusively to cut 45-degree corners for jewelry boxes. It has its dedicated bench and shop-built fence . I’ve carpet taped a section of 1/8″ masonite on top of the table to prevent tear-out. Pros: 1) Makes accurate, repeatable, well-finished cuts (with replacement blade) if left on a single setting. 2) Dust collection is reasonably good if dust spout is hooked to small shop vac. 3) No quibbles with motor.Cons: 1) Blade will drift out of square and need to be reset if the saw is adjusted to cut different angles. Since I only cut one type of joint this isn’t an issue. However, if you are cutting fine joints, you’ll probably want to restrict the use of the tool. I don’t think it would be reasonable to expect this saw to perform dead-on miter cuts for long if you are using it for general carpentry too. 2) Ribbed fence can makes clamping/adding stops difficult

For my usual, day-to-day cutting smaller pieces, this saw is a little too big, heavy and awkward. But, when you need to cut wider pieces, like crown molding, this saw really comes in handy.

I have had this saw for 3 years now and it has performed flawlessly. It is highly accurate and stays that way with no adjustments needed. The only reason this saw only gets 4 stars is because the blade change operation is awful. The engineers designed a great saw, but they must have dozed off during the blade change design. I dread the blade change operation. Other than that one flaw, the saw is superb.

I use this saw for trim carpentry. It’s very accurate and has survived abuse for 8 years. Recently i decided to “upgrade” to the Milwalkee cordless miter saw. It had a lot of nice features, but it was down on power and less accurate (despite squaring it, which was much harder to do on the bevel) compared to this saw. I returned it. Today I was finishing up a project with large dentil molding, and i was thinking about how awesome this saw actually is, so I decided to write this review. (Although the blade change could be easier.) Thank you DeWalt for making this saw. It has made my life easier. Now if DeWalt only made women…

This saw has many fine features including stops for frequently used angle cuts, a strong wide backstop to hold your material, a heavy base and an excellent safety guard – an absolute must in a saw like this one. Good visibility for making micro cuts necessary for fine fitting. Wish I’d invested in it years ago. Overall, Dewalt is my go to brand – they still use METAL parts where it counts!

Dewalt tools are the way to go. Very dependable. Even got it earlier than expected.
