The 13 in. thick Corded Planer from DEWALT provides excellent surface finish with a 3-knife cutter head that delivers a 30% longer knife life and makes changing them out more seamless. Its powerful 15 Amp, 20,000 RPM (10,000 RPM cutter head speed) motor executes 96 or 179 cuts per in. for a quick and efficient solution. It handles larger cuts in wider materials with ease.
- 19-3/4 in. cast aluminum base that is 2x more rigid than a standard 10 in. base and folding tables
- 2-speed gear box that allows users to change the feed speed for optimal cuts of the particular material with which you’re working

After 7 years, my first one was wearing out and my choices were to factory recondition it or buy new. With COVID 19 affecting everything, I did not know how long it would take them to turn the planer around, so I bought a new one. I just wish they had knives that lasted longer and were able to be sharpened instead of trashing them. Boards need little sanding even using the faster of the two settings. Have mostly planed several thousand foot of rough 4/4 poplar, and a small amount of red oak.

The planer works wonderfully. Follow instructions closely to avoid snipe. I built a fully enclosed stand which I pipe the sawdust into, otherwise it blows out all over the shop.

I have has this planer for four years. Absolutely essential for working with rough stock. I have been able to take saw mill lumber and turn it into finished stock. Very pleased with the performance and ruggedness.

I’m happy with the planer. There are very few units in this middle range which is the sweet spot for most folks. It’s better built than the $400 units and significantly cheaper than the slightly more power, wider units. Good for a home shop – awfully heavy to drag around for a contractor.
