This is the second Dewalt thickness planer I have owed. The first was a two blade and last 15 plus yearr and planed thousands board feet and I loved it. I could plane a 1/16 off on red oak and white oak. This one I cannot even cut 1/64 off and have only run 500 board ft of red oak and 250 pine. I switched the blades today hopefully that helps. I am going to look for different blades. I like the chip removal the ease of blade changing but the dust collection port needs some rethinking. I hooked my dust collection high so the hose is out of the way. Hopefully I can find better blades.

I bought this on April 11, 2019. I ran about 80 board feet total through it, it did a great job. Until the Motor burnt up. i’m bringing it to a Dewalt service center, it’s still under warrenty, i’ve only had it a month and half. if they fix it or replace it i’ll be satisfied. i mighrt have got a lemon, we’ll see. i really can’t rate it any more until it gets fixed.

After a couple of minor tweaks this thing is deadly accurate, and planes to a super impressive finish. Very impressed with the quality.

This is a simple to use yet great quality planer. It is quick and easy to set up. I use this mainly for around the home projects cuttingboards and furniture builds etc. We bought the Dewalt stand with the planer and it is a must. We have had this planer for over a year and have had no issues with it thus far. Dewalt is a great brand and it worth the extra money. I do wish the stand was included with the purchase.

I purchased this planer about a year ago. I’ve used it frequently in the time since. There are many things I like about it, especially when compared to other planers I’ve used over the years, and there are a few things I dislike about it. But overall, I would still purchase this one again. Any planer at this price or less will experience some large issue, however this is the only one which pretty much resolves all the large issues, and aside from a few livable small issues, I am happy with my ownership.Pros: 1) Very powerful. I’ve ran all kinds of boards from walnut, cherry, maple, down to softwoods without issues. The planer doesn’t struggle or make extra noise as long as your not trying to take off more than you should 2) Cutting depth guide: Runs the full length of the planer (compared to the DW734 which only is in one spot). 3) Depth adjustment guide: Very smooth. Have had no issues from the rails or the wheels. The gears are housed well, and are covered to prevent wood chips from getting to them. The threads will prob require lubrication at some point, but thats part of regular maintenance 4) Blades are accessible and easy to swap 5) Depth stop knob: Has a hard stop depths from 1/8″ to 1-1/4″ by 1/8″ increments. Useful to get a certain depth quickly just by setting a knob and rotating the depth wheel until you hit that depth. 6) Dust collection: The dust collection is very good. I find that a few large chips may fall to the bottom, but other than that, all small dust and chips find their way out. Have it hooked up to a shop back, but honestly, the blower is more powerful than my shopvac, so you could technically run it with a hose to your dust collector. Cons: 1) The major one is snipe! My model is about 1.5″ on the tail of the piece. You could make a sled to get around this. I’ve gotten around by providing a little upward pressure when the work piece comes out, and sanding flush. I’ve found it to be minimal to non existent this way. You can also purchase the in-feed out-feed tables which also help to reduce/eliminate snipe. 2) Noise: This is VERY loud. Louder than tablesaw. Significantly louder than any other planer. Not a bother with ear protection, but working from inside my garage, its clearly audible to all inside my house. 2) Occasionally this planer will pop a fuse. I have all 20 amp. Doesn’t with any of my other tools, Unsure if this is a fault of the planer or my electrical though. Happens infrequent enough it’s not really a bother.

I bought this planer to replace my old Delta planer. I’m very happy with this product. I particularly like the 2 speeds as well as the fact that there are thickness stops at standard dimensions like 1″, 3/4″, 1/2″, 1/4″. I have it hooked up to my dust collector, and because the planer’s blower is so powerful, I don’t turn the dust collector on… this works like a champ. Dust collection is very, very good this way.

Works very good . A little snipe on the tail end of the wood until I made a extended deck on the back to keep it level. Nice clean and smooth finish at low speed

This replaced my Ridgid TP1300 which, while a good machine, didn’t give near the quality of finish the DW735 does. The 735 gives a glass smooth finish on the ash I work with. Of course the blades are new, but I expect it’ll still be pretty good down the road. One thing, definitely a 2 person job unboxing it and placing it.

Arrived ahead of schedule in and worked fantastic. Easy to setup. Left a great finish on the wood.

I have used my planer now for several projects including planing some 11-12 inch wide maple bench top sections 1 1/2 inches thick. I followed the recommendations for thickness and speed and the machine just ate it up. restored an old bench top and made it look new. The top was painted several layers deep, oil stained in places, it had been used and abused but the planer made it look new.

I’ve always had the 12 1/2 inch planer. Finally made the change to this one since I don’t move it to the job site as much anymore. It definitely does have more weight to it but it’s still a great planer.

The fan assisted vacuum works fantastically. Blades are easy to replace and the fast speed cut produces a glass smooth finish

I bought this a couple of months ago to use in building cutting boards. It is very accurate if you do 1/4 turns and runs great . Best investment I made for the shop in a while.

Before I bought the DW 735, I did a lot of research and talked to a lot of woodworkers and sales people. I’m happy that I listened to them! I run a small woodworking shop and this is plenty of machine for my tight budget and small shop. Love the 2 speeds. If used correctly, they deliver advantages other planers in this class doesn’t. In particular, an almost glass finish on white oak. I especially like the dust port, but make sure to secure your hose! I wasn’t prepared for how much power the dust exhaust has!

I bought this a few years ago and it is still working great.

This is the best planer you can buy in the category of home shop (not commercial). The speed adjustments are key to make the exact cut you want to make. The chip ejection is works very well. And the planer came in calibration out of the box. I recommend this product!

I’ve had this planer for about 2 years. With the outfeed tables, there is very little if any siping. The powered chip ejection is amazing, Combined with a dust collector, it it leaves the boards ready for work. This unit is heavier than other planers of similiar size.
