The 13 in. thick Corded Planer from DEWALT provides excellent surface finish with a 3-knife cutter head that delivers a 30% longer knife life and makes changing them out more seamless. Its powerful 15 Amp, 20,000 RPM (10,000 RPM cutter head speed) motor executes 96 or 179 cuts per in. for a quick and efficient solution. It handles larger cuts in wider materials with ease.
- 19-3/4 in. cast aluminum base that is 2x more rigid than a standard 10 in. base and folding tables
- 2-speed gear box that allows users to change the feed speed for optimal cuts of the particular material with which you’re working
- Fan-assisted chip ejection vacuums that chips off of the cutter head and exhausts them out of the machine
- Automatic carriage lock that reduces the movement that causes snipe
- Extra large thickness scale that delivers accurate cuts with every pass
- Extra large turret depth stop that allows you to return to your most frequently used thicknesses with ease
- UL listed

I purchased this very nice piece of equipment a few years ago and find it very helpful. It is not fast as only thin slices are possible but I am retired so rate of production is not that important to me. Also, I spend much of my time on a wood lathe so the thickness planer was infrequently used. It produced wonderfully smooth surfaces with very little sniping. It is now time to rotate the knives. The 8 screws holding each of the 3 knives in place were put in so tightly that the T-wrench supplied with the product could loosen only one or two screws on each set of 8 screws. I purchased a T30 star drive, actually more than one, that I attached to a ratchet drive. With this rig and lots of spraying and waiting I have been able to remove 6 of the 8 screws on each knife. I am afraid that several of the remaining screws will need to be drilled out. There is no rust or corrosion involved, the screws were installed entirely too tight. In spite of this I still recommend the product.

I picked up this surface planner used from a retiring woodworker earlier this year and it immediately became my favorite tool. It is simple to use and saves me hours of sanding. This is a heavy piece of equipment and it’s best to have a buddy help you move it around.

I have been using this machine for about a year now. I really appreciate the ability to truly fine tune the cutting height. Two minor issues which would not impact my decision to purchase… 1) The cutters are not very durable. 2) my dust collector provides a slight static shock when hooked to the planer. Both units are adequately grounded, so no big deal, but the outfeed table could be made of, or coated with, something that does not conduct electricity.

Bought this 4 months ago and wish I had bought it sooner. Great surface finish achieved in soft wood and hard woods. Easy to use, reliable and the surface finish you can achieve is amazing. I re-saw hard woods and this planer helps me to achieve a common final thickness for the re-sawn wood.My only issue the rollers reaction to the cold. is Dewalt needs to add a note to the instruction manual which explains when the feed rollers get cold, they will no longer grab the boards. I recently spend hours trying to determine what was wrong – finally did a web search and found the information on cold rollers. A small hear on them for a few minutes resolved the problem.

I bought this for my husband. He absolutely loves it! He wound up purchasing a Dewalt stand to go with it along with some extenders to feed into the planer.

Excellent planner. Set up took lass than 5 minutes and I was working on a project in 10 minutes. Clean cuts, easy to adjust depth.
