Minimal assembly, solid product, most of all ready to work.

Great product, my only complaint is the infeed and outfeed tables are not flat and it took a long time to get them adjusted as much as possible. Should have saved the $80 extra and got the model without them.

Planer worked just as advertised with littleor no snipe. I did have some grooves thoughout the piece which had to be sanded down.

After reading numerous reviews and watching review/test videos for the best portable planers, I landed on this DeWalt and Home Depot’s Ridgid planer. I ended up with the DeWalt. It’s been a few months now and I’ve planed maple, walnut, pine, and pallet wood as well. The planer does everything you would ask of it. It’s easy to setup, use, clean, and maintain. If you’re on the fence, you have to think about long term. There is a reason you see one of these in almost every shop. Pros: Smooth blade performanceHeavy duty built (controls and knobs all feel very sturdy)Blower works very well, leaving minimal dust/shavings. Very heavy and stable. If infeed/outfeed tables are set correctly, you can minimize sniping to the point where just some sanding will remove it. Cons:The only thing that I did notice was that when I feed wide boards through, they sometimes get jammed causing you to have to give the board a “push” to help feed it through. It may just be that my blades are losing their edge. Im not sure. It could also be that I didn’t wax the bottom tables well enough or often enough.

Perfect cuts, very smooth. Take time to align the infeed and outfeed tables and you will receive the benefit of zero noticeable snipe.

This thing is a beast! I’ve owned a Delta and a Ridgid planer both and been waiting for the right time to buy this DeWalt and when it went in sale I had to have it! So much quieter and cleaner finishes than the other two, meaning less finish sanding. I’ve even ordered the Shelix head for supreme finish. Very satisfied with this planer.

Fast shipping, easy assembly. Put this planer to work as soon as I received it and have not had any issues with it. It has planed everything thrown at it from a 4 x 4 to 1/2″ oak planks. Glad I made the purchase of this little gem.

The planer was easy to setup and has worked well so far. The stand however was disappointing. The hardware needed for step #1 was missing. I called DeWalt but it was the day after thanksgiving and they were closed. I went down to my local hardware store to buy replacement bolts/nuts/lock washers. When I got back, I found the holes weren’t located correctly and I had to file them out to get it built. Nice stand other than that.

The blades chip and wear too fast.

Great planer that appears to be very well built. After a short assembly process and leveling of the extension tables, I was off to make my first cuts. The first test cut produced a remarkably smooth surface but for two narrow parallel lines that were slightly above the surface. I think that the blades were damaged at the factory. If not for that imperfection, I would have scored the unit higher. I will contact Dewalt soon to see if they will swap the blades.

Stand is not as strong or stable, it does have a wobble and it moves some as the planer is going.

Have not opened the box yet. In the process of still setting up my shop to make room for my equipment.

The planer is easy to set up and maintain. Make sure to get the feed and out feed tables level to eliminate snape.

Very happy with this planer. Good value with extra blades and stand included in price. The ability to roll this planer around is a huge help.Found a 4″ flexible hose at Woodcraft and ordered a Dustrite bag from Rockler for chip and dust catching which works great. The planer has done a great job on 4’x2″x12″ rough cut maple slabs, taking 1/32″ per pass with relative ease. Supporting the boards at the outfeed prevents snipe. Would recommend this planer without hesitation.

I could not have asked for a better 13 inch planer.

Once planer arrived, the first thing I did was replace the knife cutter head with a spiral. Cut a 13″ wide piece of mahogany from an old headboard and ran each side through. Finish was excellent without any sniping. Checked thickness with a digital caliper and was equal all the way around. Ran some rough cut cedar 2 x 6’s through and had some very mild sniping. I like the rough thickness pointer at the front of machine. Allows for quick initial setup. With the machine hooked up to my dust collector and along with the power exhaust built into the planner, dust was almost non existent. Very satisfied.
