Heavy-Duty 2-Speed Thickness Planer with Knives and Tables has a powerful 15 Amp, 20,000 RPM motor (10,000 RPM cutter-head speed) that handles larger cuts in wider materials with ease. The 3-knife cutter-head provides long-lasting knife life and makes knife changes faster and easier for less downtime, while the 2-speed gear box allows you to change feed speed to optimize cuts per inch. The removable material gauge and extra-large thickness scale deliver accurate cuts with every pass and with the turret depth stop, you can return to your most frequently used thicknesses quickly and conveniently.

Got this item on sale. Planer works great even in the high speed. Only issue I had was the rollers slip if it is too cold out. To remedy this every few boards through the planer I would do a gentle clean on the rollers with a little dawn and warm water. Please make sure to unplug the unit before doing any cleaning, this thing is seriously hardcore. As long as I maintain the planer and keep sharp knives in it I foresee it lasting for years to come.

This is an awesome tool! It self feeds, so once you start to insert a piece of wood the machine takes over and moves it through at a nice even pace. Even on low speed the finish is silky smooth! With a shop vac attached there is almost no mess to clean up. Very well designed and built!

Great planer, a little pricey but well worth it. On the finish setting boards need light sanding to be smooth. In feed and outfeed tables need a little tweak every so often to assure alighment but not a huge deal. This makes buying rough cut lumber at cheaper prices an easy decision. Couldn’t be happier.

This unit really makes shaving wood to the thickness you need super easy, and the end product is extremely smooth. I had to make my o n bucket system to capture the shavings as I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on some high end system (as the manual says not to use a shop vac due to it not being able to keep up).

Works great. For smaller pieces, glue them to a longer flat scrap board and send them through. If there is tear-out, send the board in the other end first.

This unit exceeds my expectations! Had some issues with the Turret stop adjustment and am still not sure I understand its use. The end product is everything I expected it to be. Have filled three 46 gal bags with hardwood shavings from my Jet collection system in 35 days with no evidence of blade wear. This was the best tool I ever purchased . Was a little disappointed to see the unit on sale with the stand included some weeks ago for almost the same money after I had paid $144+ for the stand alone.

Unit operates as described and performs as expected with excellent results. The discard shoot of sawdust needs to be addressed or you will have a mess! Had to fabricate a plastic elbow from electrical conduit isle and attach a zippered leaf catching bag from an earlier discarded mower…works great! LOL This is an excellent machine value and I would recommend it for home projects.

The item is working like a champ (IT’S A BEAST). The HD service during pickup was extremely lacking, the package was on its side when I went to pickup (had to special order and in store pickup). Its quite heavy and yet was offered no help to load, thankfully I’m in decent shape(unlike the box at time of pickup). I’ll never special order a thing from HD. If “it’s” not on the shelf I’ll just order it from their “Blue” competitor seeing as they know how to do Pickup the right way. But honest review of the Dewalt 735x planer is “it’s a game changer”..if you’re looking for a great thickness planer then this is what you need!

I really like the non-adjustable knives. My old planer was adjustable and you might save money on knives (since you can sharpen them) but the continuous adjusting is not something to look forward too. On top of that, sometimes you make mistakes in the adjustment and you will get awarded with crooked wood. This planer has none of those issues. The DeWalt also does a good job at dust collecting, 99% of the produced dust will actually exit the planer through the dust port. The only con for this planer is its weight (90 pounds). I do not have a permanent spot for the planer, so I store it in a rack and have to carry it out whenever I use it. That is a lot of weight to carry. The planer has two grips on top that are very helpful though.
