Was going to drill and tap 1/4″ plate for a project,after dilling a substantial pilot hole, the drill bit wouldn’t finish the job,had to change plans, i have used the tap since and it worked very well, don’t know if i just got the one bad one, but didn’t work for me,

Good value for the set. Worked well for 6 hole in 1/4″ A36 steel plate. Hopefully I’ll get 20-30 taps out of this tap. The last tap (manufacturer unknown) only lasted for 10 taps.

The tap is fine. I tapped a bunch of 1/2 inch thick 1018 CR steel plate, and opened up the threading in some half-tapped tee-nuts that were case-hardened. The tap is still razor sharp. The included drill bit is not ideal though, it is way too long. They should have included something like a screw machine length bit. But the included bit is still good quality, and I saved it for other uses.

Good price, availability, and great customer service as usual. The bit and tap functioned well installing distribution panels on a steel canopy. The tap works best for me with the Irwin tap adaptor and a 3/8 drive stubby ratchet.
