Bought this to replace my previous DeWalt which finally went out after many years. First thing I noticed is that it was a bit heavier. While that may be a good thing (more power, amps, etc.), I would have liked seeing two features, although I’m not certain if the first is even possible due to the fact that it’s variable speed:1) A trigger lock, because if you’re doing something other than drilling, where you’re using it for a prolonged period, it’s nice to lock it and grab it in another position to relieve your grip on the trigger.2) Would have preferred a regular keyed chuck.

Have always been faithful to the DeWalt brand. I passed along my old drill to my son at his new home–it was still going strong about 10 years on–so I needed to purchase a new drill for a few home projects. I love the power of this drill but am extremely frustrated with the chuck. I was drilling into concrete on my first project and the bit kept coming loose. No matter how many times I tightened and re-tightened. It would work for a minute or two and then slip out. Not sure if it is particular to the concrete application, but will find out soon. Very disappointed.

I am building a cedar board fence to replace an old one and I haven’t purchased a corded tool in years but I needed something that would drill pilot holes without the batteries dying before I was finished for the day. I have two battery powered drills (3 batteries between them) and they were done before I was so I went corded. And the keyless chuck is perfect. Easy to change bits in seconds and it does not slip. I would not, however, recommend this drill for setting screws because the torque is so high unless you can learn to control the speed through the trigger.
