What a Team! Home Depot and DEWALT come through again providing DIY’ers with a quality tool capable of exceeding the most exacting demands of any home project. Well constructed and powerful, this drill easily bored forty (40) 5/8″ holes in 1/4″ steel plate and angle iron components used to construct a lat pull-down machine for my work-out room without a hint of ‘bogging down’. I highly recommend this DEWALT drill to anyone looking to add an industrial quality tool, at an exceptional price point, to their home shop.

Ready for heavy duty use right out of the box. I literally opened the box, attached the chuck key to the cord, attached a mortar paddle, plugged it in, and started working. Solid drill.

It’s too big and too heavy. 4.9 lbs? This thing must weight like 10 lbs. If you’re using to drill constantly, eventually, you’ll realize how heavy it is quickly. One-hand operation is not ideal. Also, the trigger is very sensitive where it’d be easy to strip a screw. I wish there were more settings to adjust the speed and force. For the price and the purpose, do your research and look to another drill.

This drill is replacing one that wore out – variable speed stopped working. I needed another one similar to the one I had with side handle, reversing, and varible speed. The keyed chuck is another feature I needed, as I use it quite often with hole saws, and a keyless chuck is no good for the torque these units produce.

This weekend I bought the Dewalt DWD210g drill specifically for an upcoming project where I was going be working in a tight 2 1/2 foot attic space for a week. I normally use my home grade Rigid 8.5 amp 2 speed hammer drill from Home Depot to drill through top plates and studs but for this job I needed a drill that was shorter in length and lighter in weight since I was going to be working in a confined space. After many hours of research I decided buy the “contractors grade” Dewalt drill and bought the DW511 8.5 amp drill. I decided to test it out first by drilling into a 4×4 using a 1″ auger x 8″ and it got stuck. Couldn’t back the drill out or go forward. NOT IMPRESSED with Dewalt so far. So I grabbed my Rigid 8.5 amp drill and backed out the stuck bit without any problems. So then I went back to the store and bought the bigger Dewalt 10 amp drill and when I got home did the same test. This one also got stuck! However unlike the DW511 I was barely able to reverse the bit out of the wood with the DWD210g. In conclusion, my home grade 8.5 amp Rigid out performed the Dewalt DW511 8.5 amp drill AND the Dewalt DWD210G 10 amp drill. I’m guessing the Rigid’s 1000 rpm speed was enough of a torque increase to outperform the Dewalt 10amp 1250 rpm drill. In the end I decided to keep the DWD210g for the smaller size foot print (about 3″ shorter) and lighter weight (about 4lbs lighter) BUT I will have my Rigid 8.5 amp drill on standby to bail the Dewalt drill out if need be. I would recommend this drill if you need a smaller lighter drill but if you need higher torque when drilling with a 1″ by 8″ auger then I would not recommend this drill especially if you are using a 18″ long auger.

There are just times when you need the power for drilling and this drill has the power. It is not a feather weight tool but it is manageable. I have a number of battery operated drills and they are great for small jobs, but progressively I am seeing the value of having quality corded tools. I expect to have this tool a long time and give it my grandsons when they start doing their thing.

I needed to drill a number of holes to concrete floor to secure my racks to meet earthquake preparedness, before the drill arrive I thought I was better to buy the next stronger one but when I got the unit and used it to see how it handles the task, turns out it can handle the work beautifully, I am very happy to own this drill. I also have a cordless drill thus this Dewalt 10 Amp will be handy around the shop floor.

I am blown away by this drill! I drill about 75 to 100 holes a day on average and this drill goes through wood like butter. I ran it through 3X6 plate and knew it was a great purchase. Both my partner’s used it and immediately ordered one for themselves. Great price for an even greater product!

Drilled a 3/4″ hole through a 4×4 eazy enough. I wish it came with a case and had a keyless chuck.

I was using my father’s ancient 1/2″ drill (a monster) to mix thinset and it finally died. To finish the batch I used my Dewalt 3/8″ drill and it was smelling hot after just a few minutes. Bought this drill and it mixed up the next batch without breathing hard! No way a battery version would work for such extended periods of heavy use. This one really performs.

Great drill for boring with 1″ auger bits. Not as bulky as some but has plenty of torque. Makes short and quick work for what I need it for. Another tried and proven Dewalt product.
Cristopher Bergnaum (verified owner) –
powerful enough to stir thin set.
Muriel Douglas (verified owner) –
Light and powerful. Always works.
Elvera Schinner (verified owner) –
I am pleased with the drill it h has performed well.
Kailyn Mosciski (verified owner) –
Powerful but it gets overheated when drilling holes in 1 ft wood after 3 or 4 holes

For anyone wanting a yellow tool, this is the one! Why be satisfied with insipid colours like beige, sad colours like blue or communist colours like red?Remember, Yellow is mellow. Just the mood you want to be in when you contemplate drilling anything.

I bought this drill a few weeks ago to have in my arsenal in addition to my cordless set of drills for drilling in tougher situations and mixing concrete in 5Gal buckets. It mixed like a dream, got pretty hot as to be expected. The secondary handle makes mixing a dream, and the 10 volts proved helpful over my coworkers older, lower voltage, corded drill. I also used it for drilling some 3/4″ holes through a trippled up 2×12 beam and it went through super easy. As it is a more powerful drill it is a bit heavier than the lower voltage drills, but the secondary handle offsets the weight, and I find anytime I’m using a drill for this much power I’m rarely using it one handed anyways. The secondary handle is designed really well, easy to adjust and its locking mechanism is solid. Additionally, as it is more powerful than other drills, it is also more expensive, but I find it worth the money if you need the extra power. Good drill, good design. Almost went with the hammer drill version of this drill (DWD520) but between this drill and my rotary hammer, I found that unnecessary and worth saving the money. The build of the drill seems tough so far and I expect it to last me many years.
