Grinder does the job, but does not come with the special wrench needed to tighten/untighten the cutting/grinding tool. Had to order one off e-bay. Otherwise it would be 5 stars.

I bought this tools because I needed to cut metal, grind concrete, and sharpen blades. I’ve done concrete grinding and metal (steel tubing) cutting and the tool performed great! It had power to get the job done quickly and with a lot less effort on my part. I really like that the guard position is easy to adjust and it’s easy to change the guard type between the open vs the closed guard used for cutting. The price made this a good value for me (a DIY). I recently bought some flap wheels and look forward to doing some sanding and blade sharpening.

Bought this model a few years ago. Have used it since for countless projects and on job sites. Just keeps running and never lets me down!

I just burned up another brand that was less than two years old. Decided to upgrade to a quality tool. This grinder has so much more cutting power than the old one. I took a chance and replaced a 25 year old Hilti that finally gave up on me. I think that this is going to be a great replacement for the old one.

OK. A little background on what I do. I am not just a DIY’er. I am a professional remodeler and construction professional by trade and I do this stuff for a living. It supports my family and I and is not just a hobby.A horrendous experience with the DWS780 caused me to be somewhat dubious of the Dewalt brand, but after listening to advice from another professional, I took my chances and bought one of these. My old Makita finally gave up the ghost after 5 years of use. My main uses are cutting slates, removing old screws, cutting pipe, brick, etc. After 20 something years in Biz, I’ve learned to spend more money on good tools. This unit has power to spare. We sometimes have to use thermal Bluestone that is 2-2.5 inches thick and this cuts it like butter. Also get some Tyrolit grinding wheels and diamond blades from Diamond Products because they are the best on the market IMO. But any brand blade or wheel seems to cut faster on yellow and teal grinders than almost everything else we’ve used, because the spindle is always turning very quickly but also receiving plenty of power. And if you look at it for a few days, but do not buy, you often find offers for a few dollars less in the coming days and weeks. I didn’t do that; I never go cheap on my tools. I was just unsure which unit to purchase. I think I made the right decision. And even as a homeowner? I think this would last a lifetime, as well as do every job you need it to do. So for the homeowner, but especially the pro, this gets a big thumbs up from me. (And because of how well it works, it may very well maintain your thumb, allowing you to give the thumbs up for the remainder of a lifetime.)

Bought this to level high spots in concrete floor for new flooring. Worked great, lots of power. Love the adjustable guard for any grinding position.

Light weight, easy to use grinder that was perfect for what I bought it for – removing floor nails to re-purpose the floor in the basement. The storage box was an important feature and this included the allen key to lock the disc in place. The major issue I had was that no disc was included and it did not make this clear on the box. Other than that this is great value for money.

I`ve been buying Dewalt tools for 20 yrs because they hold up on com/Ind. jobs This purchase was to replace a DWE402N grinder that fell victim to poor factory voltage. Dispite the abuse I still got 4 good yrs service from it. I like the dust control feature as mini grinders often have dust issues and the rotating head on that model was nice to along with the extra push of 11 amps fit all the job site needs

I bought this grinder when Home Depot had Dewalt tools on sale.I was looking for a grinder that was smaller (that is that I could use it with only one hand) than the one that I had at the time which was bulky even though it was also a 4″ grinder. Picky, I know, but there you go.After having researched different brands of 4″ grinders, I ended up with the opinion that Dewalt’s grinder was as good as I could get. On top of that, this one had a case which is important to me (storage, protection, etc.)I’ve used it a few times since and it does its job extremely well. I cut through some pretty thick bolts and it had no problems at all. Now, a bit of a ‘fatherly’ suggestion. When using this tool (like pretty well all power tools) it’s extremely wise to use some protection. For this tool in specific, gloves and long sleeves protect from flying metal shards. Safety glasses or a face shield (lighter welder type), again, protect from the same shards.BUT, MOST IMPORTANTLY, for the purpose of this review is EAR PROTECTION. I ignored advice about protecting my hears when I was younger (what I call ‘Indestructible Youth Syndrome’). As a result, I’ve lost some higher register hearing ability and I’ve also developed a condition which is called tinnitus. The symptoms of tinnitus are a constant (24/7, 365 days per year) high-pitch whistle in my ears. The doctor told me that I HAVE TO WEAR ear protection now so as to stop the condition from getting worse. By they way, guys and gals, there’s no cure for this. It won’t kill you but it sure is a drag.PROTECT YOURSELF when using power tools. You, just like my father and me, are not indestructible.

I am using occasionally this grinder for a few years. Good working and performing solid build tool c/w a caring case. I don’t have enough expertise to judge if it’s better or worst then any others. Obviously you can’t go wrong with DeWalt.

I used this to trim 3/4″ thick marble and it worked really well. I used this marble for window sills and needed to butt the marble up to the window and around sheetrock so I needed to make some detailed cuts.

I love the design with the lockable paddle switch. It has lots of power and is well built. Would definitely recommend for others.
