A five, yes, the angle grinder did exactly what it said it was able to do. I wanted to sand my house siding (cedar) down to bare wood after 20 years of weathered wood and several coats of stain. I tried a hand held vibrating sanding with 40 grit sand paper, took too long and did not really work as well as I wanted and needed for speed and capability. I tried a cheap angle grinder. This worked well, but literally fell apart in my hands. It lack power and dust created clogged the fins and caused over heating. I read about The DeWalt angle grinders and other products. I purchased this product. First the trigger lock, never needed it. I did try using it, but the comfort in my hands and balance of the grinder did not require a trigger lock. What took the hand vibrating sander 1 hour to do approximately 2 5 square foot area, this angle grinder did it in about 10-15 minutes. My original plan was to do one side of my house per year for a total of 4 years. However, my vacation was only 7 days. I figured I would grind one day, rinse the wood, and the next 2 days stain the house for a total of 6 days. The power, the 50 and 80 grit sanding discs combined with a balanced machine i was pleasantly surprised and happy about the purchase. If you have ever purchased something and realized, yes, this was great purchase. This is how i felt and still do feel about the machine. Some pointers, if you are going to us it on wood. Practice sanding on a piece of wood. If possible use the same age of wood and stain/paint. If dust is a concern DeWalt does have collection system for purchase. I did not purchase as i was working outside. The auto-shut off is a great feature you need to get used to, it is not obnoxious (kicks off every time you bend or hold wrong) it does kick off when you probably twisted when you should have turned. All in all I would buy it again

Seems like a solid, well-built tool. I’ve done some grinding with it and it runs powerful and smooth. I like the soft start, it doesn’t jerk when you pull the trigger. The guard is easy to adjust or remove.

Unit operates well, and has power. Guard is shaky, not user friendly to adjust or remount. No accessories included, but for an allen wrench. Will see how it fares over the long haul, had it a few weeks. Got extra warranty. Had a nice Ryobi that burned out, and returned it (it came w/wrench,grinding wheel, and tilt handle). The cord is HD and grip is nice. Will use a 7in. wool buffing pad for wax/off on my boat. Using a 4.5in diamond metal cutting wheel (w/o guard) for some gutter work, it is an awesome power tool! Picked this model w/thermal overload.

Purchased this grinder for our employees that tend to push a little to hard into the work piece and stop the wheel. With the clutching mechanism we are not destroying grinders near as fast as we used to. Good balance and feel with this grinder!
