This is now my favorite angle grinder. My 4.5″ is now the backup and the one the kids get to use when helping me work. The 5″ capacity is great (with all the 5″ accessories available) and all the 4.5″ accessories I have now fit as well. The ability to change the cover position easily and without tools is a time and frustration saver, just push the lever and rotate. I have used my other grinder at times in a way that I would rather have gone the other direction but didn’t want to take the time to get the tool to change the cover position.I wasn’t sure if I would use the variable speed, but after trying it I really like it. Being able to slow down the speed in certain situations such as sanding and even grinding gives me a little more control.Haven’t had the kickback brake work yet and hopefully won’t, but it is good to know it is there.

This is my first experience using a brushless grinder. Speed control is very nice: adjust the RPMs for whatever work you’re doing. I used it with a diamond cup wheel and it made swift work of correcting some concrete. See photos.The green power indicator light is a nice touch – you know when someone has unplugged your extension cord!I like the fact that you can lock on the power switch, then adjust the speed.I have always used cheap angle grinders before, but the quality and features of this unit has changed me for the better.

I love this grinder due to being able to vary the speed, it’s great for when you have to do precise cutting and or grinding with it. The break feature is also something I really like because you don’t have to wait for the tool to spin down to a stop when shutting power off to the unit, avoids unwanted injuries

Dewalt did an excellent job on an amazing grinder! This thing is powerful and could stand up to any size job form commercial to shade tree back yard mechanic! From cutting concrete to grinding on on stainless steel. Will cut through 1/4” steel like butter, no motor dying down, stalling out like ordinary grinders do! I’m very proud to own such a great American made grinder that performs very well in any condition! Great job Dewalt

This grinder is a workhorse. I needed it to grind 1/2″ of concrete that was poured too high. I paired this grinder with the most aggressive 5″ grinding cup that Dewalt makes and I couldn’t bog it down or overheat it. It held out longer than my strength did. This is a very powerful grinder, especially for its compact size. I have only used it on high speed so far but the variable speed will come in handy for other jobs like cutting and grinding.

We were recently hired to cut a recently purchased house. The tile walls seemed simple enough, until we started the demo & found out that it was Old School; support wire mesh, concrete & tile that ended up being almost 1.5″ thick. This grinder made short work of it. The variable speed offered adjustments for any situation we encountered & the kickback brake was flawless!

Really nice grinder. Most powerful barrel grip grinder ive ever used. Had no problems cutting through 1/4″ thick angle and grinding down welds. Wouldn’t bog down at all. Also has a variable speed dial which is nice for more delicate tasks. This is the lock on switch style but there is also a paddle switch style of this same grinder if you prefer that. Highly recommend may buy another so i don’t have to keep switching blades between tasks.

Very happy with this machine. It’s easy to hold and maneuver. It’s balanced with essentially no internal vibration. There’s one thing I didn’t like. When adjusting the blade guard, if you rotate the guard past the point where the guard release lever can a detent on the guard, the guard comes off.

Like the ability to lock the grinder on and have the variable speed control. Own other grinders that have variable speed but have to hold trigger in exact spot for the speed hard to do. Used it with concrete grinding disc worked excellent to slow down the speed for dust control.
