I bought this approx 6 months ago. I am a table builder and use it for all the course sanding. It really hogs material if the seams are not quite. a vac on the sander and it really stops the dust issue. With out the vac you really create a lot of dust. I really use the tool am super pleased

This sander does exactly what it is designed to do. The variances are sandpaper grit verses the surface to be sanded, etc. I used this sander on epoxy surface to smooth surfaces and prepare surface to primer coating. Excellent results.

The DEWALT 5 in. Variable Speed Disk Sander is a work horse. I purchased this to allow me to refinish my wood deck. We power washed the deck and that left splinters in the wood. I purchased the hook and loop sanding disks 60 grit and they worked great with this sander. The sander went into the wood and took it back to a point that it looked new. We were able to sand the floor of a 14×14 foot deck in about 4 hours and then over the next couple of days we took care of the spindles and rails and steps. everything looks great and we can now finish off the deck with a good coat of Flood stain to make it look great. would highly recommend this sander if you have some aggressive sanding that you need to get done. Very happy with the performance.

This is a powerful sander but is difficult to control. I bought it to sand chip wood for one project and was not concerned with a perfect finish. If I were, this would not be the tool. Not sure what to use it for now unless I need to rip a lot of wood fast and don’t care about imperfections. The drill style handle makes it a little awkward to apply the right amount of pressure and it tends to jump all over the place as it sands. I was in search of a heavy duty sander that had the capabilities of stripping paint off of old clap boards. This sander does exactly that. It’s powerful, easy to use (once you figure out how to control the shakes). The only down side with the sander is that you have to use two hands to run and control the sanding process. This makes sanding clapboards on a ladder virtually impossible. Other than that this sander is a complete power house.
