I am painting my house and was looking for a sander to feather the paint edges after I scraped off the lose paint. I have 4 different sanders, some were too heavy or didn’t have the rpms. This ended up being a great investment. It was light enough to hold without getting heavy. The handle helped keep the sander in control and the variable speed feature was the best. Once I determined the correct speed all I needed to do was pull the trigger and go to work. I looked at another model in the store, it was $20 more and didn’t have the variable speed or the dust shroud.

So far so good, using this to remove some paint from old Mouldings, totally up to the task. I honestly think with some practice and the right pads you could hit table tops ect with this tool and end up with great finish. Fits right in between homeowner & pro:)

I purchased this unit because the description said that it was a random orbital sander. I wanted to use it for both sanding and for polishing. When I got it home and ran it I discovered that it only spun without any random action. Like most Dewalt tools it felt good and solid like a great quality tool, but I returned it because I needed the random action. I was disappointed that the tool description was not accurate.

Have had this tool for about 3 weeks & used it 6 hours w/ 40g aluminum oxide discs to remove house paint remaining after heat stripping. I have only used it at the medium speed setting to minimize disc loading. It works pretty well for cleaning down to bare wood on 100 yr old porch columns.I removed the dust collection shroud so I can see exactly where the disc edge is when working to an adjacent surface.
