Our new 1/4 sheet sander combines many end-user driven features and benefits. We have reduced the overall height of the unit, while keeping a powerful motor. We have also been able to reduce the vibration and wobble to give the tool improved comfort while using. The new paper clamp system was created after feedback and frustration that users had with the current wire form system. The new system works with a front button and a paper tension system with the back paper clamps.
- 2.3 Amp motor sands at 14,000 OPM
- Rubber overmold texture will provide smooth and comfortable control while sanding

Use the sander to sand projects. Nocks the splinters off and smooths the wood well. Would recommend and buy another. Only wish it had more suction on the dust collection.

This is my first pad sander. I always used the orbital sanders. The Dewalt pad sander is much better for fine finishing. It’s very smooth and not as aggressive as the orbital sanders. It is easy to change paper on this sander. The only thing I don’t like, is the soft on/off switch. I like a firm switch.

I found this sander to be the best use for my palm in order to get things done around the house, rather than being a couch potato. You don’t want to use your palm in a lazy manner, and find yourself getting overweight.

Working With Pallet Wood:I can use this tool for 20 min at a time with no noticeable fatigue. Shaves off a lot with 60 grit sandpaper although it burns through sandpaper pretty quick so make sure you have enough sheets! It can reveal raw wood on a 2X4X3 in about 3 min per side if the board is smooth.Cord is a good length, it has two prongs so it can be used with any suitable extension cord. The vac pick up everything as long as the board is flat and doesnt blow anything noticeable out of the filter. I feel like the sandpaper lasts longer without using the hole punch. It actually buffs nails and screws to a sheen but going over them wrecks the sandpaper almost instantly – within 5 min.All in all this sander is crucial for light/medium sanding purposes. For heavy jobs a planer, hand belt sander, or a grinder and sanding wheel would be ideal. If you need something as thick as an 1/8 of an inch gouge removed this is not the tool (unless you have 30 min and a couple sheets of paper to spare).I try to sand with the grain, but no matter the direction it always comes out smooth for 60 grit. Haven’t done any finishing sanding yet but I have no doubts it will not perform. I haven’t tried the shop-vac connection yet either but the sander alone picks up nearly everything so I’m not worried there either.Great tool. Couldn’t be happier with the purchase!

Great sander, which replaced a very old one which had belonged to my late grandfather. Much lighter, uses 1/4 sheet of sand paper, and works quickly.

I bought this primarily because my cheap sander’s dust collection was a joke and I needed to do some sanding inside. I was going to buy the Ryobi after being very impressed with their orbital sander, but reviews convinced me to spend more on the DeWalt instead. I wish I had gone with the Ryobi, quite frankly. While this feels solidly built and has some nice features (ease of loading the sandpaper compared to cheaper models, great ergonomics), the dust collection is very disappointing. The dust bag never fills up at all and most of it ends up in the air, whereas my Ryobi random orbital sander has superb dust collection. Perhaps sheet sanders are inherently weaker in this area than random orbit sanders, I don’t know. But I bought this hoping for good dust collection and for what I got, I could have paid much less for a cheaper model and been at least as happy.

My palm sander works flawlessly and I was delighted with the dust collector that “actually worked”. Simply item but WOW, what a difference this makes in overall operation.

Quiet operation, didn’t see any dust blow-by from the collector bag. Well balanced seems lighter than the DW411 I had, that just died. Not sure if it sands more or less aggressively than the DW411. I like the front mounted sandpaper clamp along with the double rear ‘spring’ clamp, it seems that to be easier to draw the paper tighter. I hope lasts along as the DW411…

I purchased the DeWalt Sander to replace my Craftsman block sander.Although I have been purchasing Craftsman for 50+ years and generally award them five stars, the sandpaper grips on their block sander is a complete disaster. At the hardware store I looked at all the major brands for replacement; the DeWalt was the only one with a truly well-engineered solution. The front is actually a clamp, which is unavailable on any other brand. The rear is a spring similar to all other brands but with one truly innovative feature–the spring applies equal pressure across the full with of the sandpaper, which none of the others have addressed. Thankfully, I can now use the sandpaper until it is worn out; not just until it rips itself off from inadequate retainer(s).I’m not surprised; I also have a DeWalt portable table saw because the engineering is light years ahead of the competition (specifically the front and rear rack and pinion guide system). The miter gauge is a piece of junk (I had to purchase a real one from another vendor) but the rest of the saw is a work of art.Kudos to your design team; the sander is a winner!

I was given this sander by a friend who was never going to use it. Boy is this thing nice.i like to have multiple sanders on hand on all my projects. My Dewalt sander always has 50 or 60 grit paper at all times. It so smooth with great power to handle the deepest machine marks left from other tools.

Got this as a Xmas present. Used it 2 times and then couldn’t turn it off. Unplugged it. Pushed the switch to turn off. Plugged it back in. Started running as soon as I plugged it in again. Pushed switch to turn off several times. No luck turning it off.Have lots of Dewalt product, about 15 items or so with no problems , other than a mouse chewing on a belt in my mitre saw. Aaahhhh

Have had it for 3 weeks and used it to catch up on projects I’d postponed too long already. Arrived on time. Needs a storage case for sander, sandpaper, etc. so I bought one at Home Depot store for about $7.Does great work on small jobs.

Picked this up as I have generally felt I only needed a random orbital and belt sander, however in the three weeks I have had this I think I’ve already gotten my moneys worth. As far as quality, it’s a DeWalt….IMO I’ve never laid my hands on any thing within that brand that wasn’t well made. Sands much quicker than I would have thought a sheet sander would sand, dust collection is surprisingly good, and it is fairly quiet for a one speed sander. If this is all you are looking for and do not want a random orbital, this for the money is going to be hard to beat. I am a big fan of Bosch corded tools, and especially sanders but I can’t imagine theirs would be much better. Rigid’s looked ok, but the front clip is made of plastic which i guarrantee you won’t hold up well against 80 grit sand paper. The Dewalt is made of metal as far as the clips and the dust bag is attached very well with their locking mechanism. The only drawback to that is you will need the DeWalt dust collection adapter for your shop vac. Ive found though that the regular on board dust bag and on board dust collection is plenty sufficient for my needs though.

Bought this sander two weeks ago to sand some hard to reach areas of the floor that I was finishing as well as for upcoming woodworking projects. Great little sander except for one major flaw….really wish the electrical cord was three- (3) feet longer. Was using it yesterday to sand a door that I am building…again…really wish the electrical cord was just three- (3) feet longer…that is all…just three more feet.

Bought to replace the same model after 30 years of abuse. I’m glad that it has only improved over the years. I was able to use the original carry case.
