The DEWALT DWE6423K 5 in. Variable Speed Random Orbit Sander is ideal for sanding applications on wood, metal and plastic. This sander features a 3 Amp motor that spins the pad at 8,000 to 12,000 OPM. Shorter height allows the user to get closer to work piece for sanding.

- To attach dust port to other vacuum systems with 1-1/4 in. hoses, use DWV9000 universal quick connector

The first time I turned it on it sounds like a noisy bearing, unless that’s normal for this orbital sander. I’ve always had good luck with other Dewalt products in the past so I gave it a few stars for that. And it does do it’s job as it should. Just leary about the whining bearing, especially when you put slight pressure on the forward edge of the pad. It would be 5-stars if I had the peace of mind of knowing it’s ok.

I just got this new for home projects and love it. It is very quiet and comfortable to use. The vacuum option works well, the unit feels sturdy and well built. I love the power cord feels like you can pull a car with it. I used in different speeds and love that option if you can get this one instead of the single speed spend the money. I own many dewalt tools and like this one I am glad I purchased and is now part of the family.

I love DeWALT tools. Purchased the 3 Amp Corded 5 in. Variable Speed Random Orbital Sander for a refinish project – sanding off the stain on a 72″ round knotty pine table. Sander worked great, even on the legs. The 90 degree angels on the inside part of the table’s bib on the underside of the table took a bit of maneuvering, but I was still happy with the results

Does a better job than a certain competitors brand, with less vibration than the competitors sander. That said, I think the vibration problem could still be reduced even more. I have owned this for about 2 wks. now and I find the dust bag already has a hole/worn spot right up next to the knurled plastic that attaches to the sander. I can’t imagine why a hole would be there unless its due to the spring in the dust bag wearing a hole thru due to vibration.

I bought this sander to strip stain off my deck. It worked perfectly and I have been asked by neighbours if I replaced my old deck boards. It was easy to handle, and the bag collected the dust fairly well, although I had to use a stick to help get the dust out of the bag. I would highly recommend.
