The DeWalt DWHT10261 is a remarkable folding utility knife that is jammed packed with features that help you work safer. As a reference, before I had purchased this remarkable tool, my personal collection consists of all utility knives that feature a screw that locks the system in place to prevent accidental injury by keeping the blades locked inside of the unit and by preventing the spare blades stored inside from ejecting accidentally. It has been my experience that folding utility knives that offer a quick-change feature often fail to keep the blade locked inside, often causing the blade to eject under heavy duty cutting tasks such as shrink wrap or carpet. Many times, someone will design a utility knife with gee whiz features that exhibit serious safety flaws with an amplified over-priced product.DeWalt somehow managed to engineer a product that meets my philosophy of utility knives. Good common sense features that don’t attempt to wow you, but are there to provide value.Value is what the DeWalt DWHT10261 offers. Here is a complete list of features:The first thing you’ll notice is the small size.It features a nice belt clip on the back of the unit for attaching to your pocket. On the bottom of the unit, it features a keychain attachment hole.Unlike most folding utility knives, this one does not have an exposed blade, making it an excellent safety feature that I approve. There is no thumb stud to open this knife with one hand, however, you don’t need it.To open this utility knife with one hand, you simply flick your wrist and it opens to full length.Just like the other utility knives in my collection, you open it by extending the blade with the switch and the blade locks in place. There are several methods to grip this utility knife.* It features a ribbed grip on both sides near the blade.* A rubber grip appears above the blade for your index finger.* And finally, a rubber mold on the back of the handle provides a non-slip comfort grip.Unlike most folding utility knives, this one has 3 blade positions.* The first locked position is perfect for safely slicing open food packages without contaminating the food.* The second locked position is for opening packages that are too shallow.* And finally the third locked position is perfect for most other packages. On the bottom opposite side of the knife is a black plastic latch for spare blades. This latch is locked shut for safety (Very similar to the screw lock of the other utility knives). To unlock the latch, simply slide the blade to the third and fully extended position, then lower the latch to load up to 3 blades when it’s completely empty. When the blade becomes dull, from the fully extended position, press the black button on the side, grip the blade and firmly pull the blade out.If the other side of the blade is new, simply reverse the blade, press and hold the black button on the side and firmly insert the blade into the knife. When both sides of the blade are dull, simply remove the blade from the knife, slide the switch closed, then slide the switch forward to automatically load the next blade from the built-in storage. To close the unit shut, slide the blade back into the knife, push the liner lock to the side while folding the knife closed.Overall, I have seen larger folding utility knives that lack such robust features.I really like the way it sits in my hand, the smart design, the bright yellow color and overall package. This product offers a generous limited lifetime warranty against defects. When folded closed, this is smaller than many other folding utility knives on the market. The only thing I can fault DeWalt for is the price and comfort, but considering the wealth of features you get in this small package, you really get what you pay for – an exceptional folding utility knife that does not rely on oil to make all of these features possible.Although this folding utility knife is not as comfortable to hold as the more traditional non-folding knives on the market, Dewalt has proven that good things do come in small packages. The DeWalt DWHT10261 is Made In The USA.This product is so good, I am personally recommending it to you.

Bought a new one to replace my old one. The old one broke and I didnt know what to do to get the replacement warranty on it.

Sturdy knife that folds to a compact size. When opened the cutting it’s tad unbalanced (cutting end is on the heavy side). The knife takes two hands to open and close. The casting holds a couple of spare blades, this contributes to the imbalance. Quality tool but not one of the how-did-I-ever-live-without-it tools.

This is a nice little functional utility knife. It’s very sharp, blades are replaceable, and it folds so that it can be put in a pocket. My last knife was dangerous, and the blades became rusty really fast. Glad I made this purchase.

Like how comfortable it feels the ability to clip it on to your belt

I am very pleased with this knife it is easy to change the blades and it folds up so you can hang it on your belt. The ribs on the side help you to maintain a grip if you are cutting into to hard to cut material. You can store 3 blades right in the knife itself. You can always count on Dewalt to come up with a quality product.

I previously had a Husky retractable folding knife for several years. It was my favorite. Unfortunately, I loaned it to a worker and never saw it again. I searched high and low for a replacement but Husky changed the model design. After trying (and returning) 5 or 6 other brands and types, I tried this DeWalt model and love it.It has some very nice features. Three spare blades can be stored in the handle and automatically reloaded when needed. I was skeptical at first, but this feature works as advertised, smooth and easy. Feels sturdy and comfortable in my hand. Steel materials with rubber contact points. Feels great. Easy to open, extend, retract, and close. Firmly and safely locks in place when unfolded and blade extended. Includes a I would give this (5) stars except for the following negatives:1) I read several product descriptions that state “open and close with one hand.” That’s inaccurate. Requires (2) hands to unfold but (1) hand to extend and retract the blade, just to calrify.2) It appears blades with (4) notches on the spine are incompatible with this knife. I tried to use blades with (4) notches and couldn’t extend, retract, or reload the knife. I had to exchange the knife for a replacement. Use blades with (2) notches.Other than, I’m very satisfied with the knife and recommend it. This tme, I will not loan it to anybody.
