Great quality knife – had one for years, lost it, and wouldn’t have replaced it with anything different!

I gave this 3 stars because it is the closest I could come to an average of 2.5. There is clearly a tolerance issue with the manufacture of these knives. The first one I bought has the dreaded “blade loading” problem. Primarily because the blade carrier (or tray) barely fit through the opening at the end of the knife. You really had to force the button forward to move the tray to the end, and that IS the only way to load a blade because the blade release button will not engage until you have the tray fully forward. I took it back to the store and returned the first. I tested the other 10 they had in the store and 7 of them smoothly ran the tray to the end of the knife. So you have a 4 our of 11 chance of getting a defective knife. If you DO get a knife that works properly, it is a pretty nice piece of equipment — but check how it slides at the store before you leave.

My dad who passed away at 80 years old had always used Dewalt brand tools. He didn’t buy any other brand. This particular utility knife he always kept on his tool belt. The blades are well made as well as the knife its self. The blades don’t snap in half and the retracting doesn’t get jammed. Very well made and sturdy!

You asked me to test this little beauty out and I did. Sheet Rock is not my favorite material to work with but this cutter did the dirty extremly well. Fits the hand well and gives clean straight cuts and no twisting. A little on the heavy side to use all day but the weight adds to the stablity of the cuts. Nice the way it folds up to fit into pants pockets. I like and shall use with pleasure. Thanks

PROs: Trully like its compactness. Heavy duty construction. Extra place for blades. The fast change for the blade unlike many I have used actually locks in and works and releases. “Most” others don’t work worth a flip. CONS: The only thing that holds it from being a true “5” is the hollow grip.4.8

For the price and quality I gave it 3 stars since the plastic closure that holds the spare blades broke upon first use. I exchanged it with no problems but with similar options by Dewalt for a fraction of the price that may be a better option. (Which saves you some money to buy the better refill blades). For the price you pay, and this being their high end option, I think Dewalt should use metal instead of plastic on the handle spare blade compartment. It feels and functions great. I hope that helps you decide.

Got this a while ago and I was able to hold onto it and use it with much more ease than the straight utility knives I’ve used in the past.

My previous knife broke after years of service. I found these and gave it a try. The blade must be retracted to fold. This is th roughly 3/4 thick, too bulky for a pocket knife. The potted aluminium case will likely have a short life span. Overall this knife doesn’t suite my needs. I have already given it to my son.

I bought this knife looking to have a reliable blade in my shop. And it has not disappointed. From scoring my woodwork, to home improvement projects… it’s handled it all. Changing the blade was As easy as can be. Glad I went this route.

Good quality product. The small cutting edge back from the front is a nice additional feature for cutting small diameter items, (string etc.). The release to close the blade is a bit awkward but manageable once you get use to it. It would be nice if the blade storage was capable of holding more than three blades. At home it isn’t a problem but a job site may be a different matter.

it might be a be difficult to change the blade. the issue is the blade should be fully forward. that’s why it be difficult .if used for sheet rock, you’ll have to clean it of dust. if you don’t, you can’t slide blade in and out, so I clean it. I’ll buy again.
