The knife is very well built. It has a cushion rubber grip handle that you don’t normally get at this price range. The sliding action of the blade is extremely smooth. The button to change the blade is near where your thumb naturally sits which makes it seems a lot safer when changing the blade than the other styles that are near the end. I am very satisfied with the knife and plan on buying a couple more. (You can never own enough utility knifes.)

I have used several Dewalt Utility Knives over the years and have never had an issue with any of them. I like that this knife has the retractable blade, as well as the extra blade storage. The quality is great and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a durable, everyday utility knife.

Once you understand how…super easy, blades are in the handle, push the button under the knife to access blades, then push blade control to open position, while hold the black side button on the knife (by the blade tip) be careful and insert the blade into the tip (keep button pressed in) once the blade is inserted release the black side button and move the blade (carefully) with your fingers back and forth to insure it is locked into place. Thats it…your done, super easy. Move the blade select switch back to the closed postion.

You will need a hex key to take the tag off. After that this thing is great. Blades are kept in the handle and push button to replace/reverse blades. If you can’t figure this out without calling dewalt/complaining, you probably should be handling a utility knife in the first place.

I like the contour of the handle and the grip feels secure. The extra blade storage in the handle is a plus. I use mine for cutting cardboard boxes, linoleum, ceiling tiles, drywall, etc, etc. I’ve used Dewalt tools over 20 years and have always been pleased with their products.

Not enough blade is exposed, and blades not sharp enough. I had difficulty cutting replacement expansion joints for concrete.

Look this is easy to figure out how to use. Slide the blade all the way out and then push the release button. You don’t have to take the knife apart, anyone posting something like that is clueless. Compared to the many other knifes I have used, is is the best and most comfortable to use.

I have always used old school utility knives that you have to take out the screw to open and change the blade and generally takes about a minute to do but this this one is lightning fast. With just a flick of my thumb I can eject the old blade out and replace it in seconds. Never had one that was ergonomic and with rubber grips too, makes it a lot easier to keep a good grip on it and more control as well. It also has storage for more blades in the handle so I can always have a sharp blade at hand.

Loving this knife so far. Sad I have been using regular, cheap utility knives for so long. Blades are super sharp. And design is what I was looking for.

I bought this on Black Friday in a kit with a folding fixed blade also. There is picture on the back of the package showing how to change a blade, although nothing showing the blade storage for the retractable one. I inserted the blade and was unable to retreat it. That’s when I came here 🙂 looking for instructions. I did take it apart, with what is now a torx bit screw. Did not see anything that would be stopping it from retracting. Before putting it back together I put a little bit of bearing grease on the tray caddie where it slides. After reassembly, it works like a champ and slides very smooth.

Just bought this thing and could not figure out how to load it as no instructions were included. This would be so much easier if it came with instructions and the tag wasn’t attached to the inside of the gizmo! I took it apart to take the tag out and get a blade and that is when the trouble began. I finally figured out how to put it back together and now realize the ease in using this thing. Just push down on the yellow button on the top, the bottom is on a hinge which swings out revealing the replacement blades. Then just push a blade into the front slot and you’re done. The problem remains in getting the tag out of the inside when you first buy it. I don’t know how it is going to hold up as I haven’t cut anything yet. If you design something, never assume that the person buying it has the knowledge of the person who designed the thing. Provide instructions.

I fussed with the knife for a few minutes then googled DeWalt DWHT10319 and found a video put out by DeWalt that shows how easy it is to change blades by pulling out the old and putting in the new. No tools required. It’s the easiest blade change I’ve ever made on a utility knife. I like the shape of the knife too, I can grip it comfortably and securely in my hand. The video is a must.

Great box cutter with a good grip for your hands. The handle stores several blades which is convenient. It is heavy and seems durable. The boxcutter is not foldable so be sure to store it safely in a Dewalt Tool Chest.
