Great utility knife, you can cut the materials very accurate and with precision, the knife can be release with ease and put another back in very easy. It comes with extra knives, I’m very happy with the purchase of this utility knife.

the lack of instructions is likely due to the design being fairly standard. MADE IN THE USA, selling for under $10 got my attention and the weight along with a great hand(xl glove) feel sealed the deal. AMBIDEXTROUS design is a plus. in a fabrication shop we can use a cord/tie cutter as much as a knife. gladly drop another ten dollars for a full metal build; the plastic stash lid might not hold up. put a loop of fr paracord through the pommel to keep your sides together when you take it apart with a TORQUE(t10) wrench. use these product photos provided to sort out the puzzle. your $10 lesson in patience …

Yeah forget the bad reviews. Not every person who uses tools is great with stuff like this. Yes you have to take it apart to get the paper piece out. Two torx screws. Not hex head screws. TORX. The bottom rubber grip comes straight out. Not one end first. The whole thing straight out. The top grip is the blade storage, it’s held in by the hinge part. It will fall out once you take the two metal parts apart. Slide the two pieces of the metal body apart. If you look where the blade comes out you can see how the two pieces slide apart. So slide then lift. Just like most utility knives. It’s really not that hard.Great sturdy knife. Holds blade securely. Quick change works fine. My favorite thing is the blade storage holds the blades vertically so you can grab a new one and put the old one on the other side. Holds 5 blades. The clip for the blade storage is secure but easy to open and close. I like the way it feels in my hand. Great for the price!!

The blades are about as good as any I’ve used in the past few years. I tend to think that earlier, made in USA blades stayed sharper longer, but with blades such as these which are subject to a lot of abuse it’s really hard to say. One additional point. Although it’s frustrating not to be able to get a blade out of the package, that really shouldn’t be a basis for rating the quality of the blades. Management of DeWalt should note and acknowledge that the instructions on the back of the package are just plain wrong. Pictorially they indicate removal of blades is from the top of the package not the bottom.

Its like everything else they make, it’s intended to hang on a wall or peg board. If you do that and use the yellow lever the blades pop right out! Love that dewalt keeps me organized

Zero issues. Took me literally 5seconds to change the blade. If you can’t figure this knife out leave the home remodeling to someone else.

I reviewed this knife back in 2015 after using it for a couple of years. I am still using the same knife I bought in 2013! The blade changing issue seemed to be a problem then and still seems to be a problem now. I have never had any issue of any kind with this knife. After 5 years of use, 5 to 6 days a week a year, it is finally getting wore out. Possible tip for blade installation and removal, the blade needs to be extended out first, push and hold quick change button and pull blade out. Installation into empty knife, extend blade slide up, push and hold the quick change button and insert bladeEven though most reviews suggest different, this has been an exceptional utility knife for a professional carpenter. Will be purchasing again.

I have had this knife for about 6 mos now and over time it has really worked well or made me nuts. I work as a General Contractor and was recently using this knife to cut drywall. The blade kept being pulled out of the handle as I tried to make a cut and started to really make the job last so much longer. It is easy to change blades, but that is why the blade does not stay in the knife when you exert pulling pressure on the handle. I will go back to my old knife that I used a screwdriver to open and it takes about a year to install the blade correctly. This knife is my new pencil sharpener.

The knife works fine, but I think I prefer the longer one with the magnetic end . Seems to be easier to change the blade and less change of cutting yourself !
