The DEWALT Ergo Aviation snip was designed with a reduced handle span, providing lower level of muscle effort required while cutting tough materials. This tool is traditionally used for cutting aluminum, vinyl siding, screening, cardboard, leather, copper and 18-Gauge to 22-Gauge sheet metal. The snip’s serrated cutting edge prevent materials from slipping during use and the slip-resistant, bi-material cushion grip ensures a firm, comfortable grip.
- 15% less muscle exertion, easier cutting
- More cuts, less effort
- Serrated blade, clean finish
- US ergonomic performance certification
- Improved external latch design
- Flush mount hardware
- Forged chrome vanadium steel

I am not a professional tin-bender but do keep a pair of snips in my tool bag for all-purpose use. I’ve carried a pair of red handled Wiss snips in my tool pouch for ages but they have just been replaced by these DeWalt straight-cuts. They are easy to use, cut straight, and the latch holds them shut while in my pouch; they don’t pop open in my tool pouch and make it difficult to remove. Plus, these look sharp! The handle has finger grips that feel good and the thumb latch is easy to release. Great tool!

I needed to cut some thin metal and this did the trick. I had planned to get larger cutters but when I tried them in the store on a sample piece of what I needed to cut, they wouldn’t do it because the metal was too thin. So I got these and they worked great.

A solid built, well constructed, easy to use sheet metal shear. The blades are set at the proper angle for a clean right cut that enables the user to create smooth arcs in sheet metal. The handle has a good solid comfortable grip that is designed for lefties and righties. The spring mechanism is well designed for a return to open position when you finish your initial cut and those that follow. I would recommend the product the amateur and pro alike.

Well-built, comfortable to use. I got these to replace an old standard “scissor” style snips. These are a vast improvement. Definitely easier to use than standard snips.Cushion grip handles fit my hands well and give me good control over the cut. The snips move smoothly and it’s easy to make accurate cuts as long as you don’t try to go too small on your cut diameter. The blade lock is easy to lock and unlock. I noticed that if I drop the latched snips and the bottom of the handles hits the ground first, the latch disengages. Not a big problem, but maybe could be improved.

I have used many types of aviation cutters in the past doing metal fabrication in auto body restoration I now do this as a hobby and I do some pretty heavy re manufacturing of parts I have used these aviation snips on several jobs now and found them to out perform most that i have used they are sharp and give such precise cuts that I stopped using all my others doing a patch panel on a 1957 ford ranchero i wanted very precise cut and thats what I got with these

A snips work great. good price I didn’t like the way they locked at first but now I figured out how it works so that doesn’t get in the way

Now, these are right-hand cut snips, but they way they are designed, they can be used by a left-handed person as well, as the locking tab is on the right, so if you were to hold it in your left hand, you could lock and unlock the tab with your left thumb, now that’s nice! For a right-handed person however, you would have to to this with your right pointer finger, which isn’t as comfortable/thought-out, but I’m not one to complain. It’s nice that these are made of forged steel, which means sharper edges and a longer life. It’s always good to get your maximum worth out of a tool. -Did I mention these things are SHARP? I cut through what I believe was 32 gauge or thicker standard duct metal, and they went through with minimal effort, though they are advertised to work up to 22 or even 18 gauge metal. However, If I had to cut something that thick, I would simply use a cut-off wheel. Now, I’m not sure how DeWalt engineered these, but the reduction in squeezing pressure is magnificent! The ergonomic handles only add to how comfortable these are to work with. If I had to cut all day with these and were a pole-builder or metal worker, I certainly wouldn’t overlook them.
