Purchased this product to help me install new interior doorknobs and strike plates. Chisel was sharp and made the job pretty easy. Simple to use and didn’t require too much effort. Did take some finesse to not take too much of the doorframe off in a strike, so glad I chose a smaller width chisel. Seems to be high quality tool, solid in hand with no jiggling between handle and metal bit.

This DeWalt ¼” chisel (Model DWHT16857, Made on China) came ground to a roughly 25 deg bevel which needed to be sharpened/honed before use. That’s not uncommon with most chisels. Sharpening was easy, so I suspect the carbon steel was not of the hardest variety – but that’s to be expected at this low price point. Once sharpened (and flattened) it cuts very nicely. The rubberized handle is extremely comfortable in use, with just enough “give” to reduce vibration if using a hammer on the end. It’s much more comfortable than many similarly-priced chisels with plastic handles. So while this chisel will never replace the high-quality ones used by serious wood workers/cabinet makers, it is very adequate for most DIYers and carpenters.

It did the job I bought it for, morticing a lock set in a door jamb. It was sharp enough right of the box to complete that task.

A very nice chisel. I bought a set of these and liked them so much that I bought other sizes as well. Handles well and cuts cleanly.

This is a beautiful, hefty chisel that fits comfortably in either hand. The twist pattern of the carbon steel blade is visible through the length of the blade, giving it a beautiful appearance. The weight of this chisel helps give control to the user. The handle gives a comfortable grip fit in either hand with a thumb grip for the forehand and a pinky grip for the backhand. It has a strike plate for use with a wooden mallet for ultimate control. I love the edge guard that came with it. While my chisels normally hand on the wall, occasionally they must suffer be carried in a toolbox and the guard will protect that delicate edge. I have used many chisels in this class and this is my new favorite.

It was sharp, with a clean edge. So far I have only used it for one small job and it performed well. It has a metal protector on the handle in case you need to use it with a hammer. My only complaint is that it didn’t come with a little plastic cover for the sharp tip to protect it in my tool box.

Great sturdy chisel! I love the way it feels so comfortable in my hand. soft feel handle. Sharp ends make for easy use. You can use to make openings in the wood door frame for locks to fit. I had a ledge under the door that swelled due to water so I used the chisel to shave away some of the wood ,so that the storm door could close tightly, without a gap.
