I got this hammer a bit ago and love the way it holds my nail to start it out so I don’t hit my fingers anymore. It has two nail pulling slots on the side of the head that are very convenient. Very well balanced and feels good in my hand. It’s good quality steel and should last me a lifetime.

Comfortable handle easy to swing. She’s not feel like you are swinging 20 oz. pulls out smaller finish nails but could it pull out a 18gage nail. The magnetic nail holder is good. Something I am not used to so it slowed me down a bit. I just need some practice with it.

Nice hammer – feels good in my hand and swings nice. I was looking for something with a magnetic nail starter and side staple/nail puller that was in the 18-22oz range – basically between a standard and framing hammer weight. This was it and I would recommend.

Got this a few weeks ago and worked on a few projects with it already. Amazing how a few minor changes to to a time tested design can make all the difference…the small side grip claw-pulls and the nail holder make this hammer stand above the others!

Just when you didn’t think you needed another hammer, DeWalt comes out with this little beauty. Grip is ergonomic and comfortable. The choices of claw and prying slots is very handy. A solid package of features.

I do a lot of work that requires the use of various hammers and I was curious to see how the 20oz DeWALT (DWHT51380) would hold up. I was pleasantly surprised with the balance of the hammer with respect to carrying it and with each swing. The “nail set” is really helpful for holding nails in those tight places. The bonus for me are the two “nail-pulls” on the side of the hammer as well (two different styles). This ended up replacing a competitor’s hammer as my new go-to. I’ll mention this as well – the grip is really great – definitely an upgraded style from the last round of DeWALT hammers!

This hammer is well designed , its handle fits right in my hand I can can use it all day with out any discomfort. It is well balanced to make each strike count with no wasted energy . I would recomend it to anyone who wants the best.

This hammer is a great buy. While I will probably stick with Estwing hammers just because they have a certain feel to them that I’m stuck to, this hammer does it all and takes a lot of abuse. I’ve used this for framing, finish work, roofing, form carpentry and breaking concrete off of forms. I don’t find the nail setter that helpful because the pan is really shallow it seems but the side pullers are very effective. Overall hard to beat value.

This is a great hammer. Some of the Dewalt hammers came with ridged ends. This one is flat. Everything I’ve purchased from Dewalt has been quality.

Not a soft rubber grip like most. Seems like it will hold up alot better. Love how strong the magnet is too.

The tag said it reduced vibration, and it lived up to that for sure. I noticed a lot less vibration driving 16 penny nails, and my hand was not nearly as tired at the end of the day. The extra nail pulling notches made pulling those errant nails out a snap as well! Feels great in the hand, balanced well, and very comfortable to use for long periods.

I am typically an Estwing guy, but this hammer has converted me. Nice grip. The side nail pulling options are great. I was a little skeptical of the magnetic nail starter at first, but it works great. Overall excellent hammer.

After my reliable 25-plus year-old wooden handle hammer finally broke, I went in search of a good quality hammer that would last me as long or longer. I am more of an occasional around the house user of tools, but I can see someone who needs a good hammer as part of regular use would like this as well. It is sturdy with a heat-treated one-piece steel shaft that should hold up to most situations. It is nicely weighted and comfortable to use with its padded grip, although I am not crazy about the yellow color. I like the fact that it has ways to remove the various types of nails you may come across including a finish nail puller, framing nail puller, a rip claw, and a staple remover as well as a magnetic nail starter, which I find the handiest. After using a smaller hammer in the meantime until I got this in and compared to my old wooden handle hammer, my arm gets less tired from using this and it has less reflex from the hit. I also like that this has a lifetime warranty, so I hopefully should never need another hammer again. Although I think this hammer is slightly pricey at just under 30 bucks, it is a well-made solid built to last hammer and does the job well. 4 starsOn a side note: delivery to the HD locker at the store was a mess. Two messages with two different locker codes with both lockers empty..20 minutes of waiting for a employee to locate to package which was stored in a completely different locker than I was given the code for.

The nail starter is not centered or aligned. Mold must have been used to much. Hammer itself is great and this doesn’t affect the use but it doesn’t look perfect.

I would prefer a fatter handle.
