I purchased the DeWalt Swivel Head Rivet Tool from Home Depot in Portchester NY.It works and seems sturdy but the instructions are lousy. The unit I thinkis actually an OEM from an Arrow RHT300. Note the Arrow instructions are alsojust as bad.For me the unit jammed on the third rivet. It no longer pulled the rivet through,no resistance, as if something had snapped inside. I tried a new rivet and it workedbetter and I got that rivet in, but then the stem jammed in the unit and would not comeout. After a bit of Googling there are some secrets to all of this. Secret one iswhen you put the rivet in, open the arms *ALL* the way, then squeeze down. Open *ALL* theway then squeeze down. Once the stem has snapped off, open *ALL* the way and theremaining stem piece drops out.The other secret is that all these tools sometimes jam, and they do not tell you how toclear the jam, in particular the Stem or Mandrel piece remains stuck in the unit. Clearingthe jam is quite easy.1) You need a large screwdriver, or the small spanner thing that comes with theunit.2) Look at the swivel head piece. Look at the back of the round cylinder. Thereis a cap with two grooves, looks like >> -O- << this.3) Using the screwdriver carefully unscrew that cap. Do it somewhere like a cleardesktop. There is a spring in there that may shoot out and you do not want toloose all the parts.4) With the cap off gently tip out all the parts from the back.At this point my stuck stem / mandrelalso came out. There should be now five parts on your desk.a) Cylinder cap, that you unscrewedb) A springc) A pusher part. Looks pointy at one end and has a cylinder at the otherwhere the spring fitsd) Jaws, part 4 and 5. Two parts that form the tools jaws. They are a pair.Look like teeth. Has a channel in them with grooves.5) Wipe clean and lubricate parts with some oil / WD 40.6) Reassemble. OK this bit is a bit tricky and requires a gentle hand and a bit ofpatience. It is easier to place the unit on its side on a desk.a) From the back insert the jaws as a pair point side first wide bit last.It is easier to insert one on top of each other ratherthan side by side. Just put them in there at the opening. You want them toremain as a pair and on top of each other.b) Next insert gently the pusher part pointy side first. That pointy bitshould mate with a groove that the jaw pair forms at the back of the jaw pair.c) Next insert the springd) Last insert and screw down the cap.It took me a while / google internet to figure this out, and I think themanufactures / Home Depot would save loads of cash on returns if they would only explainthis in the instructions.best, Mike.~

This is a great idea when it’s hard to get into tight places with the swivel head. The tool has a on board wrench which makes it easy to change the rivet head size . I like that it also come with a Limited Lifetime Warranty which is no surprise with a Dewalt product. The gun comes with a assortment of rivets which gives you 120 rivets for a good starting point.

Because the handles are so long, even my hands can’t reach far enough to use it one handed. But when you engage both mitts, it does just exactly what it’s supposed to.

Really like that it swivels. would be even better if it could lock it down where you needed it

I bought the dewalt 6” swivel head riveting tool to handle a kayak repair that required 3/16” rivets, and this tool was sized for 3/16” rivets. Well, the rivets I needed to use were stainless steel, and this tool simply wouldn’t handle them. There was a tiny chart on the back that said the 3/16” was for aluminum only…I ordered on line and didn’t see it. The tool seems well made, just has limitations.

I bought this origonally to fix a screen door, but I keep finding more jobs to use it in. From fixing the hanger in a bird feeder to anchoring my attic shelves properly, this riveter does it all! I was afraid I would not be able to use (due to troubles with carpal tunnel) but I really don’t have to squeeze to hard and because of the swivel head I can use it pretty much anywhere, as long as there’s enough room to open and close the handle. ***The only thing wrong about this tool is the ring at the base of the handle (to lock it in a closed position) fell off somewhere, because it doesn’t go all the way through the handle.

Works Great!

I would have given five stars except it was not until it was delivered and I carefully read the fine print did I find out that it was not good for SS rivets which is what I had bought it for.
