The motor can easily be transitioned between fixed and plunge bases and the plunge base includes overmold rubber handles for a comfortable and secure grip. Have had this outfit for only a short time but so far I like it very much. I would have rather seen both routers equipped with a round sub-base but I was able to purchase one separately for about $16.00 that works with both.

Excellent tool…. I’m a beginner and this package made it easy for me. I have made a few signs with the plunge base, and used the fixed base for rounding over edges. If you use good bits, you will not be disappointed. I’m looking for an over sized baseplate now to help with my steadiness.

I have always had a larger style router but I mounted that into a table and needed a new one so I thought i would give a compact router a try. At first I was unsure of the power but I was quickly corrected on that assumption. This little router has more then enough power and is pretty compact making it easy to use. the LED lights are a very nice touch also. Would definitely purchase again.

The plunger does not secured the router very well and the router will move on occasion. The bits will loosen with light use – I eventually tighten with two wrenches instead of push button. I’m not pleased with the operational issues and expect move from Dewalt.

I compared this compact router to several others.The size of the motor is a bit larger than another that I liked. Accessories, such as an edge guide, are not included and are relatively expensive.Still, I chose this one because the depth settings on both bases work well and can be easily set to precise values. I also liked the operation of the plunge base a great deal on this one. Finally, the transparent base and LEDs make it easy to see the work if you plan on free hand cutting. The price though is on the high side compared to other options and it can become very high depending on your needs for accessories. I wish the edge guide were included in the kit as it is with the kit from at least one other manufacturer.

It’s compact size allows you total control (well almost, the bit is still spinning at over 20,000 RPMs) and it has more than enough power for most simple jobs. In no time at all I felt comfortable to tackle ever more complex routing with this tool, and the dual interchangable bases cover most of your needs.
